“OmniVision (OVTI) will supply CMOS image sensors for a second-generation Apple (AAPL) iPad that will launch in the calendar first quarter of 2011, according to a brief research note yesterday from investment firm Detweiler Fenton,” Eric Savitz reports for Barron’s.
“The research firm contends the new iPad will ship with two cameras, a 5 MP camera and a VGA camera, and likely will support Apple’s FaceTime video chat software,” Savitz reports. “Detweiler says their early read is that Apple will build 2.5 million units of the next iPad in calendar Q1.”

Bought the first but will dump that on my kids when V2 comes out. Wife has iPhone 4 (I only have 3GS) so facetime with her will be cool as she travels alot.

A rear camera is nuts! I have my doubts about this report. Who wants to hold up an iPad to take pictures or video?!? It’s awkward in the extreme.

Slightly faster processor, better efficiency, and more RAM.
Same screen – retina display is pointless on a larger screen.
Better battery life – look for 14-16 hours.
Some new connection port, maybe USB3.
