“The white iPhone 4 has been delayed because it can’t take good pictures, a source with connections at Apple tells me,” Leander Kahney reports for Cult of Mac. “The white case leaks light back in — especially when the flash is used to take pictures.”
“On Tuesday, Apple said the white iPhone has been delayed until next spring,” Kahney reports. “This is the third time the white iPhone has been pushed back: first to July, then the end of the year and now to next spring.”
Kahney reports, “Once again, Apple didn’t explain the delay. In the past, the company has said the white iPhone was ‘more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected.'”

MacDailyNews Take: If, as Kahney’s source says, the problem may demand a complete redesign, then Apple ought to just cancel the thing and focus on iPhone 5. By the time they get the white iPhone 4 out, if they even get it out by spring, everybody will be waiting for iPhone 5 anyway.

it’s really funny that Apple can’t deal with white coating issue when they make stunning macbook air, ipad easily. what a lame. people don’t like a delay. especially, technology gadget. that’s why I stopped buying apple product anymore.

I know the white iPhone was originally announced way-back-when for ATT, but the time frame of this latest delay is perilously close to the rumored Verizon launch. It just seems to make sense. And I would surmise that Apple is under no obligation to deliver a white iPhone to ATT, should they choose not to.
