“Barclays Capital issued a note to clients late Tuesday following Asustek’s confirmation yesterday, that its co-branded smartphone partnership with Garmin was officially over,” Chip Brian reports for Comtex News Network.
“BarCap analyst Amir Rozwadowski, ‘This morning Asustek and Garmin officially announced the end of their co-branded handset partnership. Given recent reports, the announcement is unlikely to surprise investors. The partnership is not fully dissolved, however, as both companies will 1) continue to support existing devices and 2) Garmin will embed its application in some of Asustek’s upcoming smartphones,'” Brian reports.
Brian reports, “Rozwadowski went onto to say, ‘Garmin also indicated that it plans to pursue mobile applications…'”

Yeah, and if you recall the lemmings over at Engadget were drooling over the announcement that a Nuviphone was coming. The images of the screenshots were all mockups, which they all thought were real. Numbnuts.

Garmin just could not see the writing on the wall. You have to provide a little more than the navigation software.

@ a Bronco game on Sunday (don’t laugh) a friend of a friend kept going on and on about the new Garmins that he and his wife just signed up for. (2 years -aahhh!) I quit trying to convince people that iPhones are the best a while back, you just look like a fanboy after a while and I decided I don’t really care if they want sub standard equipment for the same price. But I do know of 9 people who have got an iPhone specifically after I bragged it up and showed it to them. The other person at the game, my brother in law, had an HTC running some old version of Windows. Looks like some new tech savvy friends. (and a better football team)

What makes you think they were beaten by the iPhone and not other Android makers? Get over yourselves.
