Analyst expects 700,000 MacBook Air shipments this quarter

“Apple’s MacBook Air shipments in fourth quarter of 2010 are expected to reach about 700,000 units, accounting for more than 17% share of the company’s 4.1 million Mac shipments, while the 11.6-inch model will account for 60% of the total MacBook Air sales due to its low price, according a Chinese-language Commercial Times report citing vice president of Concord Securities research department, Mingchi Kuo,” Joseph Tsai reports for DigiTimes.

  1. Sounds like put speculation at this point. The MBA it is pinched in the product from below by the iPad and from above by the Mackbook Pro. I see its greatest significance as an evolutionary product. If you can live without an optical drive (at lease not one in the laptop box) and you can live with somewhat limited data storage (at least in the box) you can have a smaller laptop box. As time goes on, more and more of us will be in that position. I’m not sure if masses of us are there right now.
