This update is recommended for users of all MacBook Air notebooks manufactured in late 2010. This update will only install on MacBook Air (Late 2010) computers. The update is not intended for other Intel-based Mac computers.

To tell you the truth any apple product owner gets people gasp and stare when they see your notebook, tablet, phone, desktop, player, display, etc… and the list goes on.

Couldn’t they have waited at least for a few weeks before they released this update? Does it not look a bit bad, pushing out software update on the second day of a product release?

I was showing my new iPhone 4 to some people at work today: They were literally fascinated. I was rather surprised at the reaction, what with all of the commercials for it that Apple puts out. The looks on their faces would have probably been similar if I had just invented fire. That was fun.

Not really. I goes to show how efficient and careful they are. Granted that perhaps they already knew the new MBA needed these updates yet diliberatley waited until after release to post since it would be premature to reveal the existence before it was announced. You may also think,”Well, if they are so efficient and careful, why not preinstall this vital software update before shipping?” …Because they were already shipped. I would rather they post the update even minutes to it’s release than weeks to keep my new machine working at peak performance. Just my 2 ¢.

No, you have to order your MBA with the full 4GB. No official way you can upgrade it yourself, although some ppl online say that the RAM connections for the SSDcard is miniPCI-E and that interface is already available on the market. Upto you, but I’d suggest you just order it directly to save the hassle. (The base screws are weird 5-point Torx screws.)

The fact there is no USB 3.0 is deal breaker for me and no FireWire to boot.

@Producerjames – Agree. I too am waiting (and saving) for Apple to put USB 3 and or Firewire 1600 into their products.
My 1st gen (2006) MacBook still holds it’s on for most things. I’m still running iLife 08 though and do not use it for games. Patiently waiting for another year or so before pulling the trigger.

If I would buy a laptop I would really like the Air. I have no idea why it’s not more popular. I think it’s amazing. Very light and good looking.
