So does Apple announce the Verizon iPhone to tank holiday Android sales at the risk of slowing its own iPhone sales with AT&T? I think Apple will wait. I think the leaks to WSJ and New York Times were enough to motivate Verizon customers to hold off on Android for the holidays and wait for the real deal. Everybody’s getting played by the Puppet Master, Steve Jobs.

For an early 2011 release of a Verizon iPhone, I would think SJ would announce it now, ahead of the FCC approval process. If so, expect it to come early in the presentation, perhaps right after the Quarterly recap.
If not today, when? I don’t see this offering warranting any special event between now and the time the FCC leaks the information, however, it is a cause for celebration of the highest order for anyone currently on Verizon and Sprint.
An announcement of this magnitude would provide a boost to Apple’s value. Expanding laterally across the market is always viewed as a positive sign of growth.
If this does occur today, keep an eye on Verizon’s stock. After a pause, watch Sprint rise a few ticks.
