Apple.com leaks confirmation of new MacBook Air models, iLife ‘11, unnamed mystery product

Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac “Updates to Apple’s official online forums reveal at least some of the products due to be unveiled at today’s “Back to the Mac” event, including iLife ’11 and a new MacBook Air,” Sam Oliver reports for AppleInsider.

“New sections on the Apple Discussions page added Wednesday include iMovie ’11, iPhoto ’11, and GarageBand ’11, all part of the iLife software suite,” Oliver reports. “There is also a forum titled ‘MBA (Need official name)’ which will likely be the discussion home for the newly redesigned MacBook Air.”

Oliver reports, “Finally, there is also a mystery space on Apple.com’s forums that does not reveal what product it represents. It simply carries the title ‘Reserved 10 20.'”

  3. The iLife 11 suite – well, we all knew it was coming, no big surprise…

As far as the MBA forum – well, it doesn’t give any specifics, so it could well be a forum for the existing MBA as well as a new one. Not really sure this is a surprise…

That being said, I think the MBA would do very well at a lower price point with a standard SSD type drive (with or without an enclosure). Not sure I need a smaller one, but it might be nice too as long as it has a full size keyboard and trackpad. It would be even more impressive if the screen was a 13.3 or 11″ iPad with touch… and could be opened completely flat or even flipped around and folded into a tablet…

  5. Still don’t understand why so many people are down on iMovie. I was not happy at first but forced myself to use it for a few projects and it makes so much sense now. It is so easy. Looking forward to seeing what the new version adds to it.

  7. Friend of mine wants an MBA for its light weight (she travels a lot), but the current model is far too expensive for what she does (mostly writing), so she’s stuck it out with a cheap $300 netbook the last year after her iBook died. She’s really hoping the rumours of a smaller-screen MBA are true, with a price point no more than the base MacBook Pro model.

  9. I’m looking forward to iWeb. I switched from a flash base site to iWeb/mobile me for my business website and new features would be welcome. I don’t miss flash at all but knowing Apple it would be nice to see improvements!
