Predictions of new features coming in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

SpiritHalloween.comCraig Grannell writes for Cult of Mac, “There’s very little information about Apple’s next big update to OS X, 10.7 or “Lion,” which may be previewed at Steve Jobs’ special ‘Back To The Mac’ press event on Wednesday. People are very excited, though, and they’re letting their imaginations run away with them. Among the features that have been suggested are an App Store for the Mac, multitouch controls, and iOS apps instead of the little-used Dashboard.”

Grannell writes, “It’s an interesting list, but some stuff [is] there that just isn’t going to happen.”

    Multitouch controls: Why not.

    iOS apps instead of the little-used Dashboard: Triple Yes. Dashboard is glacial. I really enjoy waiting 60 seconds for my weather widgets to update, the whole time being unable to switch to something else or the process has to start over next time.

  3. we already have multi touch controls with the magic trackpad now available for the desktop machines… I personally don’t want to be touching my display and cleaning it constantly. for a portable device, touch is perfect, simple, amazing. for a desktop device, it is clunky when used directly on the display. the magic trackpad gives a nice intermediate access point.
