  1. Now we know.

One thing is certain, my iPad would make a nice drum machine for Logic or even perhaps a remote mixing console. Either way, I welcome any Logic advancements that include iOS.

  3. If Apple could turn Logic into so much better an application than it was originally, there’s no doubt it can better and best Photoshop.

Mr. Jobs, please give it yor blessing and let the dogs out.

  5. iOS devices are just about the most perfect type for DAW applications. I’m definitely hoping to see a GarabeBand App for the iPad fairly soon. That should provide a cue for others (Steinberg, MoTU, perhaps even Digidesign) to port their pro stuff over. Audio interfaces are already popping up for the dock connector on the iPad; multi-touch interface could NOT be more ideal UI for this.

  7. Predrag:

Your 100% right. This is the perfect musicians tool and controller that could be a soup to nuts solution for songwriting, composing, recording, editing and processing.

The iPad is just so obviously suited for this and so many other applications, that when we start seeing good quality professional apps make their way into the market, another iPad explosion will be just one if many aftershocks.

  9. Great, 64-bit REX support. That was one of the biggies that didn’t make it over when Logic got 64-bit support.

Garageband for iPad? hmmm… not sure I see that being used for anything more than quick song writing tool or the convenience of being able to record on the go. I never got the whole virtual interface thing. Musicians still like real knobs; virtual knobs aren’t really the same.

The iPad has limited ram and that 1024 x 768 screen is pretty small real-estate too. If you have to pinch and drag to get around I think that would get tiring pretty quickly and trying to accurately highlight waveforms by finger would be a nightmare. And you would probably max out the cpu and ram with just a couple virtual instruments or mixing a few tracks of audio.

To use Jobs’ analogy, in this case you really need a truck/desktop computer. Trying to pack up a haul a lot of dirt in your compact car (iPad) isn’t going to work very well.
