Apple to hold special ‘Back to the Mac’ event on October 20th

Mac OS X 10.7 Lion? New MacBook Air? One more thing? We’ll find out what’s coming next on October 20th as Apple holds a special media event, the media invitation for which is below:

Let the speculation begin!

  1. Guys (Stephen, RicMac),

I have no doubt, Mac OS X is very close to its retirement. It is NOT quite there yet. It can’t be, since we have yet to see a first desktop iOS computer. I would be surprised, though if the 10.7 (presumably, Lion) weren’t the last cat out there. Apple had to deliver one more Mac OS X iteration, built in such a way to allow ties with iOS. Perhaps at first running as native Mac OS X, with red-box iOS (in a virtualisation window), then later, once desktop-grade apps arrive for iOS, booting into iOS, with Mac OS X running in a blue-box environment (like ‘Classic’ in OS X).

I’m sure, though, fans of Mac OS X will be happy to know they’ll get at least three more good years out of that OS (and applications that run on it).

  3. It FINALLY HAPPENED! The “Battery Reserve” warning popped up on my MacBook this morning and I stabbed at the Okay button with my index finger. It was reflex.

Years of groundwork and human engineering are accomplished. Touch is coming to Macs.
