After a software update promised for next month, you’ll be able to stream video to the Apple TV from an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch,” Jaroslovsky reports. “You can begin a movie on a mobile device, walk into your home, and—voilà—have it appear on the big screen in your den.”
Jaroslovsky reports, “Apple TV may turn out to be a Trojan Horse—a deceptively simple gadget that, once in the home, expands its functionality until it takes control of everything. Or it may prove to be the first step toward an Apple-branded television set. Either way, it’s no longer just a hobby.”

I’ve not had a chance to play with mine yet, but annoyingly the apple remote doesn’t seem to work properly whilst my old white one does, I may have to ring support.

so pretty soon, I should able to setup a large screen kiosk with iPod touch, AppleTV and big screen? All one need is an app for gesture control using iPod touch’s built-in camera and Safari.

I’ll let you, US based fanboys test it out first. It’s not available here, nor are the services. With a few major TV broadcasters all focused on silverlight for Internet access to videos I don’t expect Apple TV to be big over here.
