Analyst sees ‘meaningful order strength’ in Qualcomm’s results due to CDMA iPhone

“Qualcomm’s summer results will reflect a major uptick in orders for a CDMA iPhone, Wedge Partners analyst Brian Blair said in a note today,” Electronista reports.

“He saw ‘meaningful order strength’ towards the end of the calendar quarter that was attributed directly to Apple orders for chipsets,” Electronista reports. “Ordering for the iPhone and others would continue to be ‘solid’ through the fall.”

Electronista reports, “The statements weren’t separately corroborated by Qualcomm, but current rumors have Apple starting production late this year for a launch early in 2011.”

  1. Next Verizon droid campaign: buy one get ten

    Android sales will skyrocket.

I’m still curious to know if the CDMA chip also supports Verizon’s apparently now-available 4G. This would be a very good thing,

  3. I see MDN is as much a VZ shill than the you know who. It would be best for the VZ subscriber fools to switch to AT&T. Have been with Cingular. Moved from ca to tx to nj and no problems. No simultaneous voice and data is so lame. Nothing smart about tech that cannot handle that.

You know what’s really lame? Having a 3G coverage area as pathetic as ATT. No simultaneous voice and data on the creaky old GSM/GPRS/EDGE network, which is most of their coverage area.

BTW, don’t know where you are in NJ, but here in northern NJ near NYC, ATT coverage sucks!

  7. iPhone needs SWYPE… multi-touch is so archaic after using SWYPE…

I really want an iphone, but there’s 2 things I won’t give up to get it… Verizon & SWYPE!

  9. The Verizon iphone wont have a deep impact on Qualcomm´s results because Apple only needs the cheepest one chip solution for CDMA voice communication. Apple will stay with the A4 as the application CPU and will add a separate, self developed 4G capable data modemchip. So the Verizon iphone will offer a dual connection for simultanous voice and data support.
