Apple’s new creative technology team to promote HTML5 with innovative new websites

“Apple’s newly formed ‘creative technology team’ will be responsible for creating new, interactive HTML5-based content on the company’s website to support owners of iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad,” Neil Hughes reports for AppleInsider.

“A new job listing from Apple advertises a position for a ‘Creative Technology Manager’ to lead the new creative technology team,” Hughes reports. “The position, a part of the company’s worldwide marketing communications group, will spearhead new HTML5-based content on Apple’s website. ‘This individual will be responsible for driving web-standard (HTML5) innovation that enhances and redefines the marketing of Apple’s products and services to millions of consumers,’ the job listing reads. ‘Work will also include exploring opportunities with apple.com, email and mobile/multi-touch experiences on the iPhone and iPad.'”

Hughes reports, “It states that the person will lead a team to develop interactive prototypes for HTML5 websites ‘to evaluate innovative ideas and approaches to standards-based’ development.”

  1. As Apple’s website gets more content, they need a lot of help. Navigating the Dev Center docs is confusing and full of broken links as the site gets updated so often.

The iOS platform has enabled web-aware native apps on mobile platform in place of websites, but would be nice if Apple come out with a development framework+IDE aimed directly for the web that is not the obscure technology they use now or based on Cocoa/Objective-C, and something better than Dashcode and iWeb.

Then the war with Google, Adobe, and MSFT will really be on. Though I kind of doubt Apple will take that direct route… Yet.

  3. Agree with acid we really do need a straightforward way of utilising these new technologies in producing content and sites for the web. iWeb is fantastic but well short of being able to take advantage of all the possibilities that Apple itself is promoting. There needs to be an integrated approach connecting a range of software new or updated that web developers can exploit in a focused way. At the moment it seems rather like alchemy and strangely out of step for a company that prides itself on powerful but simple to exploit technology, software, services and interfaces.
