With Parallels’new mobile app and MyParallels service, iOS users can perform tasks such as printing, viewing Flash-based websites and full use of Windows-only applications like Outlook.

– Remotely start, stop and reset virtual machines
– Stay connected via WiFi or 3G networks
– Access your Windows applications from anywhere over the Internet
– Optimize for either speed or graphics performance

  1. Ok, I’m dumb. What does that mean? Can I run windows 7 on the i-Pad?
You know what’s gonna happen. When the i-Pad came out, I heard someone say, “I’ll wait for the tablet that runs Windows.”
So… MS will have a tab that runs Windows 7, and Apple can’t run OS 10, or Windows?
To some people, it’s NOT a computer yet.

  2. @ cw

Actually, Microsoft doesn’t have any tablets at all, and probably never will. Microsoft doesn’t make computers.

But if you mean ‘tablets that run Windows..’ then lukeskymac is correct. Such devices have existed for nearly a decade now. See how well they’ve done?

  3. Parallels adds functionality that many may use, integrates into an iPad app and all some of the myopic trolls here can do is dump all over it.

Myopic trolls you say. Feeling pretty righteous today aren’t we.

I happen to be a Parallels user from the day it first came out. It is a fine program and I’m sure it’s iPad version will be a well designed effort.

However, I cringe, piss, and moan everytime I have to use it on one of my Macs because using it means I have to lower myself to using that POS known as Windows.

So, to clarify, the dogshit that I refer to on my iPad is Windows not Parallels.

  5. I tried it and cannot get it to recognize my virtual machines. The support site is worthless. I called tech and got a guy in India that I had a hard time understanding (no offense intended, simple accent incompatibility on my part) in addition to the horrendous background noise of others yelling in what must have been a massive call center. I was patient and understanding but never got my problem resolved.

  6. Can’t you already do this with LogMeIn? Parallels is just another Mac OS X application, so if you’re using LogMeIn, you could launch Parallels from there, right?

This just looks to be Parallel’s version of LogMeIn.

  7. Must be just a customized VNC connection directly into Parallels. Hmm I’ll bet that about 90% of the people who read about this will misinterpret / misunderstand just what it is and what it does; its one of those things most people will have to see in action before they get it.

  8. The mobile app is not working for me. It sees my computer alright, but it tells me that there are no virtual machines when in fact I do have one. Click on Refresh and nothing… No support from parallels… maybe they do…but you have to pay for it. For now, the app is only a hype. Logmein is more reliable.
