Apple Online Store“As crazy as it may sound, iPods are supposedly one of the most anti-social thing that have affected footballers in the Premier League,” Alex Ion reports for DeviceMAG.

“According to Dave Kitson, a striker with Stoke City, they’re guilty for ruining the sport as players turn to their iPods in the dressing room right before kick-off, negatively impacting the team’s morale with everyone listening to their favorite vibes,” Ion reports. “‘Changing rooms should be buzzing with anticipation and energy before a game, but more and more I see players slumped around in their own world, generally looking miserable,’ Kitson said.”

Ion reports, “Another thing Kitson is upset with, because of the iPod, players don’t talk to each other anymore. So instead of  discussing strategies and how they’ll beat their adversaries, they put some downbeat music on and dream.”

  1. Ban the f’*krs in the locker room! Problem solved! Next, ban cell phone use while driving! Less people will die! No one has the balls to lay down the law anymore! It’s a spineless liberal’s utopia!

  2. Of course, this is the problem of the technology and not the people. Right?

“So instead of discussing strategies and how they’ll beat their adversaries”

This is the Premiere League, not some IM side that only discusses strategy before games. I believe that they are actually professionally coached, ie strategy is discussed well in advance.

  3. How is the lack of a law banning iPods from locker rooms and cell phones while driving a “spineless liberal’s” fault?

I fully agree that cell phones should be banned by drivers on the road unless using a hands-free feature, and texting shouldn’t be permitted at all by drivers. I further agree that Kitson’s bitching could easily be remedied by banning personal portables from the locker room (or better coaching).

    And yet I’m a liberal…Fancy that!

First, people like you say this government has too many laws. Now we don’t have enough?
Nothing spineless about creating the right laws, surely.

    Think before you ink.

  5. “Meh it’s only soccer anyway. Who cares?”
All the sports fans in all other countries in the world. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

“Who pays these ignorant dumbasses to write this shit. Sounds like Obama talking points.”
Do you actually have some coherent point to make —- maybe, dare I say it, with an actual fact or two and a bit of logic? Or do you think that knee-jerk name calling and use of an emotional trigger word or two constitutes intelligent discourse?

  6. Technology can have that effect on people.

First off a iPod requires a computer to operate, so that means the “jocks” are using computers and not socializing, drinking beer and dunking whores in the hotel pools like they used too.

Second, since they are online now, they discovered the wonderful world of adult porn, in every taste and style imaginable.

So they come to do their job playing sports, likely worrying if the 18 year old porn star they saw online making it with with grandpa was really 18 or not and if they are going to busted for watching child porn.

So what better way to not look guilty and stare people in the eye than by donning the iPod headphones and tuning out?

  7. Oh please. Athletes in all types of sports can be found happily and SUCCESSFULLY using their iPod to help them focus. From Olympic snowboarders to professional cyclists warming up on their trainers, to major league baseball players, the iPod is the tool of choice to get them in the zone. But then, this is a piece of angry blather from a Luddite loser. That it is even reported here only increases the traffic to this piece of click bait.

I hate wasting my time on garbage like this.

  8. I thought you said a footballer made a comment? If Stoke has problems, it’s not Apple’s fault. Dave try having a stellar year before slogging Apple. Is this your year for the Golden Boot?

Sounds a whole lot more like Bush-speak to me. But then, what would I know, I only *read* the article.
