“There’s nothing subtle about the iPhone 4,” Andy Ihnatko writes for The Chicago Sun-Times. “From the styling to the upgraded software to the new hardware to the new edition of the operating system, this is less of an update and more of a rebirth.”
“I’m less impressed by the iPhone 4’s higher display resolution than I am by its superior contrast ratio, which offers 5 ounces of wow per pixel,” Ihnatko writes. “Even when I freeze-frame a movie like ‘Star Trek’ or ‘Up,’ the effect is eerily like looking at a large-format transparency on a light table.”
Ihnatko writes, “And the iPhone takes the best pictures of any phone I’ve ever tried. Not by a subtle margin, either.”
“Log in to Suntimes.com on Monday for my full, detailed review with the iPhone’s full pros and cons… including ambitious video and photo galleries comparing the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 3GS, two Android phones, and a couple of ‘real’ cameras and camcorders,” Ihnatko writes.
Until Monday, Ihnatko’s mini-review – written on the iPhone 4 via a Bluetooth keyboard – is here.
Didn’t Andy Ihnatko always have an editorial at the back of the old MacWeek magazine? He has style. Reminds me of Hurley from Lost.
Unfortunately, most reviewers do little more than a quick skim of the spec sheet before “comparing” competing products.
It’s nice to see Ihnatko doing something different.
Anyone see this link off to the right of Ihnatko’s article?

Ihnatko, last of the Mohicans
It would be nice if this didn’t occur but it’s hardly a big deal. I can think of multiple cell phones I have had over the years with the same “issue”. Hold it different or use a case. It’s not complicated or the end of the world. It’s also the nature of antenna’s. Get over it.
Ihnatko is the man.
I can only hope and surmise that the prospective refresh of the iPod touch will follow the form and factor of the new iPhone 4. (come November?) It does look very sleek and sexy.
