Victor Godinez reports for The Dallas Morning News that the first iPhone 4 camper has appeared in front of Apple Store Knox Street in Dallas, Texas.
MacDailyNews Note: Apple has sold out of the first batch of pre-order iPhone 4s. New Apple Store online pre-orders have shipping dates of July 14. If you aren’t one of the lucky 600,000 iPhone 4 pre-orderers, the only way to get an iPhone 4 on June 24 is to go to a physical store since Apple has reserved the remaining initial iPhone 4 inventory for retail stores’ launch day sales. There’s no telling how many iPhone 4 units will be available for sale at each store. On June 24, iPhone 4 is supposed to be available at Apple, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Radio Shack retail stores. We’d call ahead to make sure that the store from which you’d like to buy will have iPhone 4 units available for sale on June 24.
Over on the MacRumors forums, the camper, Justin Wagoner, has posted:
Greeting to everyone from your famous camper! This is my first official post for MacRumors. One of the users printed off a copy of the thread and brought it to me and I thought it would be fun to join the conversation.
Some would say I am crazy, but I say I’m a very determined fan. In fact I just might be one the biggest Apple fans you will actually meet. I have been the first costumer for this store since 2008 when the iPhone 3G was released.
Normally I only camp out over night, but since I do not work due to the fact I am disabled with a seizure disorder and I am not in school at the point, I figure I just make it a fun experience and do it for a week.
Yes I did reserve a phone, but again, I’m doing it for a fun experience. I haven’t had a trip or vacation in past 10 years so I figured I make it a full week camping trip.
My setup and location has everything I could need to live for a week, even in the Texas heat. Tent is packed with a sleeping gear, a chair, full ice chest of drinks and food, and the Apple staff have been very nice to me treating me like a king. LOL I also brought a extension power cord for phone charging and things that need power. There is even a portable toilet around the back of the store if needed.
That been said, I’m actually doing really well out here. If anyone gets a chance, come join the fun!

MacDailyNews Take: Dude’s gotta do, what a dude’s gotta do. Happy camping, Justin!
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Readers “Brawndo Drinker” and “TheMightyFinder” for the heads up.]
Apple starts to break out serious.
There is only one shot at life, and it’s not in camping out for a cellular communications device.
Justin is disabled. Read his note. Watch the video.
Let’s see how compassionate you emotionally-driven Liberals (no-experience-required-if-you-can-make-me-feel-something-by-reading-off-a-teleprompter) really are.
He must be disabled…
Are you f*&%^$# kidding me? Yeah I waltzed into my local ATT store and i pre-oredered mine in 15 minutes, at 5pm the day they opened pre-orders…
A week for a phone. I dunno… That’s some serious mental retardation
@First 2010, then 2012 – Justin sounds like an Obama voter:
Get. A. Life.
He’s a happy little homo isn’t he?
Justin, many best wishes and hope you are able to keep a smile on your face with the many challenges in life. I hope that your new iPhone 4 will help to make things just a little easier in life. Lots of more fun too!
It was like Special Olympics, or something.
I would assume that all units are gone by pre-order, so what good is camping out? Also, would the police allow this?
Good luck and have fun, Justin! Enjoy your new iPhone 4 and ignore mean people!
Retard.
Must have voted for Bush. The tard is from Texas, after all.
Hey, let’s make fun of Trig Palin next!
Hey, cut it out, us liberals love retards:
“I’ve now been in 57 states — I think one left to go.” – Barack Hussein Obama
“There is only one shot at life, and it’s not in camping out for a cellular communications device.”
Or maybe not. At least he will probably have more fun and meet more interesting people than camping out for a week in some campground.
More power to Justin. My wife don’t follow sports, so Apple is our team. Justin’s not hurting anyone and is not infringing on anyone else. I’m sure he will have a fascinating week, especially dealing with the people who tell him to ‘get a life.’
We’re with you, Justin!
