“Apple tells that FCC that there’s more to the iPhone than the public knows and wants them to commit to a 45 day short term confidentiality that will freeze internal photos of the iPhone 4,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple. “What could Apple be holding back?”
Purcher reports, “Note this specific Apple statement below: ‘Although Apple has begun to market the device publicly, these documents reveal technical and design information that has not been publically disclosed in such marketing and that is protected by Apple as confidential and proprietary secrets.'”

It’s 4G capable!
Maybe the photos might show iPhone internals that show support for second carrier?
It emits a RDF field around the device? Called ” Continual Keynote Aura”?
Well ain’t that dandy. Apple has more secrets.
Mdn magic word: answer
the ANSWER is the little gnomes working inside iPhone 4.
It has rfid technology. It enables the gov not only easedrop on what the user is doing, but it enables them to drive up and down city streets collecting data
It’s a tricorder!
Could be that it includes circuits that support Verizon?
@jim
Government? Why bother, Google has that covered already.
Seriously MDN? That’s standard operating procedure for cell phones. Apple did the same with previous iPhone releases. In no way is it indicative of some mysterious features.
I want to believe!
Very nice indeed!
Virtual wallet thing?
CDMA transcevier?
More RAM?
Damn it! I think I will pay extra $200 for an early upgrade.
It’s really the long awaited transporter circuits.
I hear that Rob! I might do the same as I can’t upgrade until Jan 2011.
@ cptnkirk
LMAOROTF Too funny!
Scotty, Beam Me Up!
If the info is iPhone 4’s technical ability to work with other carriers, maybe this is ATT’s last chance to exclusively sign (grab) two year contracts.
ATT has gone on an all out assault on it’s customers in the last few months as partially evidenced by the upgrade “eligibility” and other ATT “rape” stories here on MDN yesterday and recently.
Transporter
This is marketing at it’s best. Even if it is true and it’s not just a rumor, this one is good.
You have all the competition scrambling for their lives, cell phone companies wondering whats going on and what the hell they can do about it anyway, every hack writer trying to cash it.
Brilliant!
On a more sober note. The US pulled out a 2-2 tie but come on, we sucked the first half. WTF?
I licensed to Apple my flux capacitor!!
dialup modem inside? secret decoder pin? holy hand grenade?
CDMA for sure!! Not that we need here in uk but… ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
Finally! I’ve been waiting for easy time travel.
If it had Verizon capabilities, wouldn’t one of the sites that breakdown the iPhone find it? Why the secrecy?
Hidden inside the iPhone 4:
High speed Hampster power!
Come back!!
An RTG in place of the usual lithium ion battery — never needs charging! (Voyager is still running after all these years.)
