Monica Chen and Joseph Tsai report for DigiTimes that Pegatron Technology has landed CDMA iPhone orders from Apple Inc.
“Pegatron will start shipping a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 to Apple in the fourth quarter and is currently using its plants in Shanghai, China to produce the products, the sources noted,” Chen and Tsai report. “The company is also working on gaining orders for MacBooks and iPads from Apple, added the sources.”

Just remember that they might be referring to TD-SCDMA, which is China Mobile’s proprietary 3G version. As you can see from the name, it’s a variant on CDMA. And, with China Mobile’s 500+M customers, they are an equally important customer for Apple.

Poor MDN, those Verizon fantasies just won’t go away
I wish MDN would post the history of Verizon rumors, because it would be hysterical. Wasn’t the latest last spring when some company had the contract to make CDMA to launch in June? Didn’t MDN report that Verizon employees were told to not to take vacations in June/July/August to launch the iPhone? Wasn’t Steve Jobs supposed to announce the Verizon iPad way back in January?
I wish we could have a betting pool on when Verizon or Sprint will ever get an Apple product.
There are advantages and disadvantages to Apple to launch a CDMA phone in the US. I’m sure Apple has done an extensive ROI analysis, and so far, it doesn’t appear that the number is so good. Yes, Apple and ATT completely screwed up the pre-order. But that news is a big yawn, now that we’ve got our orders in. It was annoying, but then again, how many of us have sat on the Ticketmaster website trying to score tickets to something.
I doubt we’ll ever see a CDMA phone. I doubt we’ll ever see another carrier than ATT. You see, Apple has ATT by its balls, since ATT makes a ton of profit. Apple likes to be in that position.

64 GB was the only thing I was hoping for! Face Time, gyroscope, Retina Display–they’re all fine, but I would trade them all for a 64 GB model.
Note to Verizon:
It’s not the DROID™ I’m looking for.
They need to get their asses in gear making WHITE iPhones for the GSM crowd before they worry about the Verizon/Sprint/China CDMA cabal.
please iphone on verizon….im not switching but i really want a real pricewar between the carriers. (google is sitting in a chapel somewhere praying to baby jesus that this doesn’t happen. apples magic trick: iphone + multiple carriers =adroid disapears)
