Apple: New iPhone 4 online pre-orders will ship July 14

Apple’s online store has moved expected ship dates for iPhone 4 pre-orders to July 14, 2010:

Orders completed yesterday still carry the expected shipping date of June 24 which means that 600,000 lucky souls will have iPhone 4 units for at least 20 days before anyone else who doesn’t stand in line outside Apple, AT&T, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Radio Shack stores. iPhone 4 will be available in the US, France, Germany, Japan and the UK on June 24. Happy camping and don’t forget to send us the photos!

If you were one of the 600,000 who got through yesterday, congrats! We’re already counting down the days until next Thursday’s FedEx delivery!

  1. I’m thanking my lucky stars I gave it another shot yesterday afternoon before I left the office. By the time I got home, shipping was out to July 2nd.

The only bummer is that they will only ship to my ATT billing address, which is at home. Guess I’ll be telecommuting on the 24th ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  2. What’s another three weeks for a new phone?

I’m still ticked off that it takes 9 months Nine Months!!! to make a baby. I mean, come on. My wife and I completed our order in late Nov. and we were told we’d have to wait until the following July to get our baby. Who thought that was a good idea?!?! Okay, sure, he came six weeks early (I think we got moved up on the list), but then we had to stay at the delivery depot an extra eleven days! Ridiculous. To add insult to injury, we had to go out and buy our own packing material so “They” could inspect it to make sure he wouldn’t be damaged in transit and “allow” us to transport him home. And don’t even get me started on the lack of warranty…

  3. OK so I finally was able to get through the ATT website yesterday after 50 tries and got an order completed page for my iPhone 4 yesterday. But if I check on the order status at the ATT website with my order number, I get an error saying that they can’t find it. Anyone/everyone else with this problem?

  4. It is interesting to see how Gizmodo is ludicrously reporting these iPhone 4 ordering problems. The world is coming to an end according to their lurid headlines, and it’s ALL Apple’s fault. According to all Gizmodo reporting these days Apple is the worst, most evil company on the planet.

  5. Digits McGee – that’s so funny ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

Whatever next? They’ll be telling us we’ll all have to wait until December before Christmas arrives. Why can’t we get it now? Outrageous!

  6. Ordered four from AT&T;’s web site yesterday morning at 9am PST. It did take may tries since 6am but I finally made it through. Got the confirmation email at about 9:30am. Then, this morning I got an email saying that my credit card placed a hold on this ‘suspicious activity’. After getting the credit card to release the hold, I called AT&T;and was told that ‘due to a higher than normal demand for phone help, I would have to call back later.’

There is something just really really wrong when the phone company can’t take your call. Irony meet AT&T;.

epilogue, I finally did get through and should get my four iPhones on the 24th. Whoo-Hoo! I’m sooooooo looking forward to being an AT&T;customer!!!

  7. “Then, this morning I got an email saying that my credit card placed a hold on this ‘suspicious activity’.”

Funny, my bank called me this morning about my recent credit card activity also. They didn’t put a block on or anything, they just called to confirm the charge from Apple, along with a couple other small purchases.

  8. I guess I was one of the lucky 600,000. I will be telecommuting on the 24th as well. Course, I’ll be spending most of the day trying to register my phone. Hopefully I won’t have any important phone calls coming to me!

  9. After 32 or 47 tries yesterday I was desperate and finally downloaded the Apple Store app. Just after about 1 pm PST I got in and made a reservation. Yikes, I didn’t want to stand in line, but I’m in Fresno, so most of the locals will be elsewhere.

  10. @ Digits McGee

Just wait until you find out about maintenance and operational costs!

Then there is the 18 year minimum contract, let alone the possible extensions.

Makes ATT contracts and costs look downright reasonable!
