The new iPhone looks great. Definitely a big leap forward. Though, I’ll wait until 2011 for the next gen… just like I said about the iPad.

Any news not about the iphone and ipad? Feels like the mac is like a black sheep. I use the mac 99% of the time and all i hear is f news about the f iphones and pads. Has the world stpp using mac os x?????
I hope developers get some apps to allow video conferencing twixt folks other than iphone 4 to iphone 4. The camera is there. Why should it only work with a second iphone 4. Oh yeah, they need too sell more iphones. As a stockholder I should be happy. Sort of a hollow though.
The iPhone genuinely feels like the most special device on the market again. I haven’t felt this great about it since the original debuted three years ago.

It would be so friggin nice if it would not only work between 4g iPhones, but between 4g iPhones and Macs running iChat. It would make it easier for my mom to call me anytime. Right now we have to make a phone call and say, hey launch iChat.
The FaceTime clip is very effective – I see Apple cutting each vignette into separate 30 second ads.

Watch the Keynote. Apple did all the work on FaceTime and are now going to release it as an open standard. Which means eventually, if some crappy droid developer can find a way for that POS to run FaceTime without choking, well then it will. Nice way to test the Android platform!

Not to worry. The Mac is constantly being upgraded and developed. It is growing far ahead of other brands. You now start to see them un-self-consciously on news desks and seminars. It’s the only machine to have in advertising, communications, photography, sound recording, motion picture, financial, science labs, journalism, and on and on. I’ve got them at home and work and getting another MBP this summer.
But now and going forward, the massive growth numbers for computing will be in devices like the iPhone and iPad. That’s where the marketing emphasis must be.

Quite the contrary…even more are using it. iOS is Mac OSX!!!! Yup, that’s right, both the iPad and iPhone are running a flavor of Mac OSX. So you see, what’s good for one is good for both.

I just picked up an iMac for me and Melinda. It’s hard to argue that the Mac is a dying platform when it continues to break sales records each quarter.
I have 2 macs and a MacBook pro! I love them more than my ipad and iPhone! I highly doubt apple will stop making new macs. The new MacBook just came out in April, which I must say is nothing short of amazing. The Ipad is real sweet, but I still LOVE my Imac and MacBook more!!
Hmm… Maybe there smilin’ because they get to use the new iPhone before anyone else. Just a thought.

There’s nothing new in videocalling on a mobile, it’s been around since 3G-networks come alive in Europe ages ago.
Point is , it is so crappy and expensive that nobody uses it!
If Apple has done something that dramatically increases the video quality it might have a chance, otherwise it’s doomed.
I got my first videocall phone in 2005, a Sony Ericsson, usable on the 3 network (or Three, Hutchison) in Europe. Yes, the quality was crappy in the beginning. But we’ll still never forget seeing our 2-year old on the display while walking around in Berlin on a long weekend trip, after having worried if he was ok (at his grand parents) not seeing us for so many days. It gave us so much peace to see him smile at us and being happy, and made rest of the weekend much better for us. But that was 1 1/2 years ago, so this doesn’t change everything, except maybe for the quality of the video…
