“According to a Monday press release from Apple, Mr. Jobs plans to stick with the same tradition on June 7, delivering the keynote address at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco,” Bilton reports. “But this year, some of the secrets have already been revealed and it’s going to be interesting to see how Mr. Jobs can still wow his audience when many images and specifications of what is believed to be the next generation iPhone have already surfaced online.”
Bilton reports, “From all the leaks, we anticipate the next iPhone will have better reception because of its glass back, a higher resolution camera and possibly a flash, a front-facing camera that will presumably be used for video conferencing on the phone and longer battery life. What’s left to talk about?”
Bilton reports, “Judging from Mr. Jobs’s e-mail exchanges with the public, however, he doesn’t seem worried… Mr. Jobs response to questions about Android and the Apple developer’s conference: ‘You won’t be disappointed.'”

I think Appple has something else up their sleeves. Its going to be interesting if they can keep the hype down until the keynote. Like I’ve told people that talk to me. Don’t buy or compare another cell phone until June 7th. I wish some of these media outlets would do the same.
well if you think about it, we haven’t see the new iPhone in action. THEREFORE, there’s still a lot we can see. along with new 4.0 features. I’ll be watching the whole thing.
Impress the consumer? Yes. Impress the tech press? Only if he has gained weight. Otherwise, the press will report on the sickly doom of Jobs and Apple. It can and will spin any great speech into, “Is this the last great speech by Jobs until his (imminent) death?”-style reporting.

That prototype was wiped before anyone got a chance to see what it could really do. I’ll download the Keynote from iTunes that night.
Well, we still don’t know WHEN the phones will be available…will it be in June, or a few months down the road? And there might be some tidbits about the iPhone OS 4.0 that might be designed to take advantage of the new technology. I think there’s still plenty of “one more thing…” potential.
Given that all of these were anticipated to occur at some point, the “wow” is not in the presence of the feature, but rather what it delivers.
For example, longer battery life is assumed for every new generation – a real wow would be 24 hrs with continuous music playback (or whatever other feature). Of all of the features noted, I think battery life is the most important and that was obviously not tested.
Although I do think it is very likely that the found 4G iPhone is the next gen, there is a chance it was not the only prototype or was not the final iteration. There is still a chance Apple still has something up their sleeve.
A completely different iPhone design than the one being leaked! That would be the biggest surprise of all!

Only the hardware obsessed web putzes think that the exposure of the physical hardware will make a dent in Jobs presentation of the new iPhone running it’s new OS. Painfully obvious when one realises that the specs of the iPhone (aside from storage size and the fact that it has a camera) have NEVER been the focus of any of the keynotes, and isn’t even on Apples advertising.
“What’s left to talk about?” When will anyone even guess at what Apple is going to do with that BILLION DOLLAR SERVER FARM that is up and running in NC? Could it be the streaming operator for all those iChat conversations? Maybe the world’s biggest DVR in the cloud that streams media to every iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and computer? It is 4 or 5 times larger than last years server farm that run all of Apple’s services.
Nothing to talk about? I CAN’T EVEN GET ANYONE TO ASK APPLE ABOUT DURING THE QUARTERLY STATEMENT. If any company invests a BILLION in something, wouldn’t investors want to know how it is going? I DID AND DO!
Yeah, because there are millions, believe it or not, who HAVEN’T seen these pictures, has no idea what the heck a Gizmodo is, but are in the market for a new phone.

Many people were somewhat disappointed with the iPad launch, but once they got their hands on the iPad, well, we see what is happening. Sold out, mostly.
Same with the iPhone. If perhaps the new iPhone looks similar to the prototype, it is the whole experience that the phone delivers that will be the distinguishing factor.
Any phone can look like an iPhone, but can it ACT like an iPhone?
So, the keynote will show us how the new iPhone and the accompanying OS 4.0 work in tandem to once again up the ante in the game of smartphones.
We’ve seen a couple of so-called prototypes. We’ve heard of some of the possible specs.
But, with 256 MB RAM and an A4 processor, look at what the iPad can do. “Magical.” And selling out.
Put the same in an iPhone and WO!
Oh yes. We can still be wowed. And even more so when we have the new phone in our hot little hands!

Remember, the WWDC focus is on the iPhone OS and much less so the Mac this year.

Pretty much sums up every Apple product agreed?
Without any real inside information, I expect to see iTV-HD with streaming of HD video using airport extreme/express. Finally the hobby will grow up into a Job(s) professional. It will also hook directly into the iTunes store for rental /purchase of music/video and probably be an e-book reader all in one. (Oh and one last thing, it uses the iPad/iPhone/iPod as a remote control/alternate display).

Honestly, I don’t see where all of Apple’s secrecy helps their launches that much. The main point of it is to keep their ideas and innovation out of the hands of competitors for as long as possible.
The leaks were deliberate. Jobs considers the iphone a stepping stone product.
One more thing.
13-inch iPad coming next year. MacBookAir screen now contains the whole works. Magnetically docks with keyboard lower portion with extra storage via docking hinge support.

I agree with you, and strongly feel that this is the sole reason why 4.0 for ipad is being pushed until fall. It’ll interact with that farm in some way.
Could Apple and Steve Jobs be showing off the real purpose behind the AppleTV and the BILLION DOLLAR SERVER FARM? Google got their TV demo out in front of what Apple is about to show off in Steve’s “Just one more thing” on the 7th!
