“The lawmakers will begin ‘a process to develop proposals’ to revise the 1934 telecommunications act, which was last rewritten in 1996, they said today in an e-mailed statement,” Shields reports. “Senator Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia, chairman of the Commerce Committee, and Representative Henry Waxman, chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, are among those involved in the process, according to the statement.”
“A U.S. court in April said the Federal Communications Commission lacks power over Comcast Corp.’s Web practices, sparking debate over the agency’s power to regulate Internet service providers,” Shields reports. “FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski on May 6 asserted authority under a part of the act written for telephone networks. Republican lawmakers said he improperly sought to expand regulation.”
Shields reports, “Today, 74 House Democrats in a letter told Genachowski they have ‘serious concerns’ about his proposed regulatory framework and urged him to await ‘additional direction from Congress.'”

Okay, we admit it: We screwed up. We don’t pay attention and we pick candidates by how well they play on TV, not based on their experience and philosophies.
We’re also easily swayed by SNL, Comedy Central, and Oprah. Hey, what can we say, we don’t have much in the way of mental faculties.
That’s why, while most of us do lean conservative, we’ll vote against that in a heartbeat if the guy plays a saxophone on Arsenio or looks good reading off his teleprompter.
Next time, instead of smartly not voting because we’re hopelessly uninformed simpletons, we’re just going to vote out the Democrats since they seem to have lost the plot so entirely, they actually made even us pay some attention.
In the long run, we are better with less not more regulation.

Yeah we here in the panhandle are F*cked because we have an administration that was afraid once again to take a good stance and force BP to plug the hole, but hey money contributions and the great P.R. can solve it all remember. As for Waxman and Company, back off, you’re barking up the wrong tree in trying to get more control. Why don’t you instead allow for more competition in every area to get prices down. More competition is better for the customers, because then WE can choose what provider suits us best.
