“While foreign owners of American iPads have been able to get apps for some time, this has only so far been allowed via iTunes, not an iPad’s own store browser,” MacNN reports. “Using an iPad in theory offers the advantage of browsing only iPad-compatible apps, and operating independently of a desktop or notebook.”
MacNN reports, “Storefronts are said to be only partially functional however, for example lacking Apple’s official apps, iBooks and the iWork suite.”

So, as the lines form overseas prior to and on May 28th, will the still be able to push down the stock price, say that Apple sells pricy devices that no one can afford? Yes, the clueless talking heads can’t come up with more talking points to trash Apple.
What will they do as their Windows world fades into the old school devices that no one will tolerate in the real world. In 1 or 2 years, what graduate entering the work force will not be using an iPad everyday! Remember about 30 years ago when the slide rulers turned into calculators? I still have one in my desk.
I bought my iPad in Orlando on April 7. I have been using what was available through iTunes on my MBP. I’m delighted to now have access on my iPad. Interestingly, the iBook store, although granting access, has zero content!
P.S. I live in Toronto.
For example, look around a doctor’s office. Remember when every secretary desk had a typewriter? It is hard to find a secretary or their typewriter they were typing your hand written information with. Some young people may have never seen a typewriter. Clipboards with forms will make that same transaction into the iPad tablets soon! A $500 iPad is less than 1 weeks salary with expenses to do it the old way or get it entered into the computer data base.

As for me, I have both Oz and US accounts (I move back and forth), and shop in both stores. In the US app store, unlike here, there is a choice at the top of the page, defaulting to iPhone, between iPhone/iPad. That doesn’t exist in the Australian store (currently). Some items are not on sale here. I checked the geographical difference in prices in each store: For example, of Bento (US $4.99, A$ 5.99) and Pinball HD (US 2.99, here 3.99), so a continuing premium for A$ buyers, where A$1 = $0.90 (more or less).
Here in Australi, the iPad apps were “hidden” on iTunes. You had to search for titles. Now there are over 30 pages of apps.
Today the app store on my iPad (sent to me from the States on opening day) went live and I am in REAL trouble – there are so many apps and only sooooo much money n my account!

Try living over here in Godzone if you want to see high prices for Apple products. Apart from GST (soon to go 15%), we also pay the SATT (shipping across the Tasman) tax.
And the Coriolis effect is evidently so strong in the southern hemisphere that the iPad won’t make it across until July. The prevailing westerlies don’t seem to help.
