MacDailyNews Take: Not “bold,” Nick, “stupid.” Full-page ads attempting to portray proprietary, plug-in-dependent Flash as “open” is ridiculous and should greatly concern Adobe’s shareholders.
Bilton continues, “Adding this kind of support to Dreamweaver will help designers create relatively rich animations, possibly for banner ads or graphic interfaces, without the need of Flash or other plug-in based Web tools. When asked if we can expect more announcements from Adobe involving HTML5, Ms. Hickman said, ‘It’s definitely part of a bigger strategy where we will be much more proactive in supporting HTML5 moving forward.'”

Somebody slapped the CEO of Adobe upside the head finally. He seems to have adjusted his strategy a bit since last week. Maybe SJ called him personally, iPadded him.
I think the slap against the head was an iPad / iPhone user(s). They must have made him an offer he could not refuse.

Sales of Flash Creator/Dreamweaver must have been a little too sluggish for Adobe’s taste.
HTML 5 is not a synonym for “a replacement for Flash.” It’s a mark-up language for web pages; the successor to current versions of HTML and XHTML. I plan to move all 945 pages of my site to HTML5, and Dreamweaver CS5 will let me do it. There’s no Flash or video of any sort on my site at all.

Sorry iFools…but Google basically blessed HTML 5 with VP 8. Otherwise you’d still be waiting to get HTML 5 content on your iPads. Nobody was going to move on HTML 5 until Google made it whole from start to finish. Now tell jobs to hurry up and announce his support for VP8 as Microsoft did before you all find yourselves still stuck out of the video loop.

How many browsers are currently supporting HTML5? How many video-based sites have implemented HTML5?
I’m curious as to the TRUTH as to why this wasn’t included with the shipping version of Dreamweaver CS5 that shipped just about one month ago (yes, I understand the pre-months for verifying, gold masters, etc., but HTML5 has been released, discussed, and in browsers during all of the pre-months).
I don’t care what anyone says, apple is 100% wrong for not allowing their customers the choice to install a flash plug-in on their iphones and ipads.
I have an ipad and love it but it totally sucks that apple is preventing me from viewing 50% ofthe wesites that I’d like to go to because of some pissing match with adobe.
I’m the customer and I bought the ipad (so it’s mine to do with what I want) so if want to install flash so could browse 100% of the web like apple touts then I should be entitled to do so. Sure, I’ll click a box acknowledging that this plugin might hinder preformance, but let ME the CUSTOMER make that choice.
apple really is screwing adobe, and I credit adobe for apple’s existence. apple would have died out in the 90’s if adobe didn’t support them with the illustrator, photshop…. etc. The artsy people who used those products were the only ones who bought macs back in those days an if not for adobe apple would be existinct.
Apple has really nice hardware but are a bunch of freakin control freaks with their software.
