MacDailyNews Take: Apple’s quite leaky right now. Mr. Jobs can’t be too happy about this.

  1. Not made for USA – judging by the plug.
2 USB ports – Still looks like no FireWire.
What’s that port, third from the left? I’m still using an old Mac.

  2. “I bet all that noise in the background is Steve trying to make his way into the room”

No, they filmed it during ‘Hammer Time’ to tell Steve “U Can’t Touch This”….

  3. You can’t BTO a MacBook with anything like those specs, and it’s pretty hard to “jimmie” a video.

That said, it would be pretty easy to fake the packaging and screenshot, but there’s not really any further proof they could offer short of a complete teardown.

Personally, even if it’s fake those are the specs they will probably update the MacBook with soon enough, since they are the specs of the MacBook Pro 13″ entry level model, and in the previous generation the specs were almost identical between the MacBook and entry-level MBP 13″ (except for the stuff the MBP has which the MB doesn’t, like firewire, SD reader, etc.)

  4. Apple should warn their hardware-producers they quit contracts if that doesn’t stop. In the long term, Apple should establish own construction facilities. My G4 was made in Ireland, so there were alternatives to China/Asia.

  5. It’s a smoke screen for what’s happening over here with Gizmodo and the others they are pulling out all the stops there’s a big difference when someone sell out in those areas they don’t go to jail they die

  6. What’s with all the g0d@mn secrecy in the first place!!!!!!

It’s like everything they they release has got to be some effin’ holy grail of holy grails all the g0d@mn time!

All that secrecy breeds “leaks”. And the effin’ Apple fanboys just fan the fire.

The reason I’m not an alcoholic today is because my parents de-mystified it!

STOP IT APPLE. THIS MARKETING SCHEME HAS RUN IT COURSE! STOP IT RIGHT NOW!!!!

Fanboys….ride a bike or something and get off your technology once in a while.

    SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZ!!!!!

  7. It’s basically the current design, but with a slightly faster CPU and updated integrated graphics. As “leaks” go, this one is pretty lame. The current design is a very nice design. At the 13-inch size, I prefer the styling of the white MacBook over the “junior” MacBook Pro.

The ports shown are from left to right: MagSafe power port, gigabit Ethernet port, Mini DisplayPort, two USB 2.0 ports, and audio in/out. The last hole is for a locking device. The same ports as the current model.

As for FireWire, the current model does not have it either (nor does the MacBook Air). I used to be a FireWire “snob.” But lately, I’ve been realizing that USB 2.0 does a fine job for what I need, in place of FireWire. No, it’s not nearly as fast as as FireWire 800, but for most people, it will not make a difference; it certainly does not make a noticeable difference for basic things like a Time Machine backup drive and storing your iTunes/iPhoto library externally.

For the people who do things like video editing/encoding and need the extra speed to an external drive for such specific purposes, they probably should not be getting a “consumer” MacBook. All the “MacBook Pro” models have FireWire 800; get one of those instead. The majority of new “MacBook” customers are recent Windows switcher customers and don’t even know what a FireWire 800 port looks like.

  8. As Apple continues to grow, they will have to enlist more manufacturers, enter in more agreements with media partners, and hire more employees. This will make it harder to control leaks and if they try to supress the leaks, evidence of the suppression will also be leaked.
