  1. MDN and censorship have actually long had a close relationship. Nothing new–but that doesn’t diminish the shame of it at all.

MDN, grow up–and MDN posters (the rightwing political wignnuts, that is) grow up too.

MDN word: “right,” as in, “When oh when will MDN do the right thing and stop censoring legitimate criticisms of its site?”

  2. By the way, the only reason I come by MDN anymore is that they have, in one place, the anti-Softie news I like to frolic in. But I’m going to look around at other sites and see if there are others I can put on my bookmarks bar.

  3. @Censorship….agreed.

Being a longtime reader at MDN, I am simply stunned at being censored on an innocent comment about morons who try to inject their political views here on a tech site. It was not even directed at MDN so I am a little bewildered.

@Nathan…glad you liked the metaphor “Don’t hate the dog, step over the crap” but clearly MDN doesn’t agree with you and deleted the post.

  4. Sounds like Predrag’s comments, and possibly others, were worth a read. I’m sorry some of us didn’t get to them before they disappeared. Would anyone like to post them and other deleted comments on another site? Or make a file available for download from a Public Folder?

  5. @Buster @Censorship

Over the years, I’ve had two posts censored. The first removal was ridiculous, when MDN decided they would only allow “snappy” jokes that day and were removing all “glossy” jokes.

The second was justified, when (unwisely, in retrospect) I copy-pasted an earlier post that contained the name of the site owner-operator.

Ridiculous or justified, it’s MDN’s site, and they can delete what they like I guess. However, why they’ve suddenly developed a new-found sensitivity to political posts is a bit of mystery, in view of the extent to which they activity promote the genre.

  6. @Micro Me
True it is their site. My comments, like PreDrag’s were ‘anti-political’ in nature which which is what caused the surprise. I sense that MDN is promoting political discourse and may be unhappy when people actively oppose it.

MDN, say it ain’t so. I would like to be wrong on this.

  7. Predrag is a valuable contributor.
    Bad news if he leaves.
    Very bad if others follow.
I think MDN is great but I too have had a few postings deleted and a greater number blocked… for no good reason. Not good.
MDN please don’t screw up a good thing.

  8. Looks like Pederegs very important post was removed from the miserable, gutless coward that MDN is. It is *IMPOSSIBLE* to comprehend a more gutless individual than whoever is behind MDN. He/she is a pure Grade A coward.

  9. Might I suggest the folks at MDN check some demographics of Mac owners and thus MDN readers? Might pay to not drive your readers away. I for one left for more than a year and returned a short while ago. A post the other day posing as a news story has me considering leaving again, this time for good.

  10. there is no mdn. it is only steve jack, a right wing doofus who likes to talk of himself as “we” and “us” and quotes his own drivel as if it was coming from a respected person. censoring predrag was the last straw i needed to never ever coming back.
