Oliver reports, “The source said a new product will arrive Tuesday with the model MC516LL/A K87 BETTER BTR-USA. The ‘better’ distinction reportedly means it is likely to be a Mac product, leading the tipster to suggest the refresh is a MacBook Air.”

I hope so the screen needs to updated to bring it in line with the MacBook pro. The aluminium border is starting to look dated. Oh and a speed bumb and better battery life would be nice too.

It’s unfortunate, but more battery (good) will likely erode the ‘airiness’ of the Air. Batteries are heavy.

i dont care what anyone says. apple has been neglecting the mac. all iMacs for the price should be standard quad core i5/i7. the mac pro is so outdated, should be 6 core xeon standard. and as for the joke of a macbook pro update, these are pro machines. they should be QUAD core not DUAL core.
not to mention core i3 mac mini and core i3 macbooks. the mini hasnt been updated in forever, and the fact that the new macbook pros are using last generation CPUs is a disgrace. Albeit intels fault for not licensing the chipsets for the new core 2010 cpus to nvidia, this is still a disgrace.
I would like to see 4GB RAM in the Air. Along with a larger SSD option. Other than that, my Macbook Air is about as close to perfect as any Mac I’ve owned.
The MacBook Air is about thinness and lightness, not about the spec sheet. I expect that the main updates will be 4GB of RAM (built-in and non-upgradable), faster processor (but one that allows use of NVIDIA’s integrated graphics), and maybe the glass trackpad (if it does not add to thickness and weight too much).
That is, of course, unless Apple has something totally different in mind. Perhaps under all the hysteria surrounding the iPad launch, Apple has been quietly working on a completely new MacBook Air that uses an A4 but runs Mac OS X (not iPhone OS).

Of course the MBA matters. It has what the iPad lacks – a full-fledged operating system capable of doing computer work, as well as a display large enough to do it effectively. Granted, the idea of doing any heavy lifting on the Air is somewhat ludicrous (heavy Photoshop use, for example), but there’s useful stuff that it does that the input/output limited iPad won’t be doing for a few years to come. Given the choice of which one to carry on business trips, I’d have to go with the MBA over the iPad.
