Optus, Telstra release Aussie data plan pricing for Apple’s revolutionary iPad 3G

Flynn reports, “Optus has confirmed to APC that it will offer a ‘made for iPad’ microSIM bundle with three month-by-month plans: $20 for 2GB, $30 for 3GB and $60 for 8GB.”

The Age reports, “In a statement on Sunday, Telstra said it would offer dedicated data plans for iPad 3G, with all plans to be available without a contract starting at $20.”

“The pre-paid SIM plans offering a 1GB data allowance cost $20, with 3GB at $30 and 6GB for $60,” The Age reports.

MacDailyNews Note: Apple announced last Friday that iPad will be available in Australia (and Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK) on Friday, May 28th. Customers can pre-order all iPad models from Apple’s online store in all nine countries beginning on Monday, May 10.

  1. With a broadband connection (3G) and the functionality of the iPad, even a 2GB data plan would be the minimum anyone would want.

  2. And Telstra has one of the largest, fastest and most reliable mobile networks in the world (Optus is just as bad as AT&T;).

    $20 for 1GB or $30 for 3GB on Telstra are perfect plans (the only shame is that the iPad HSPA chipset (7.2Mbps) is much slower than Telstra’s network (currently 21Mbps, soon to be 42Mbps).
