  1. If pre-orders are being taken from Monday next week, how come O2, Orange and Vodafone 3G data-plan details have yet to be released? Anyone else worried by this?

It could well be higher than the nominal £15/250MB & £29.99/Unlimited UK/US price ripoff!

Nearer £25 & £50, if no deal can be make by Apple.

  2. “How is that “laughable” with VAT at 19% in Germany and more expensive warranty regulations on top of that? (Mandatory manufacturer’s warranty is 12 months, plus another 12 months of mandatory dealer’s warranty under less stringent rules.)”

Coming to the USA unless we toss these turds that are terrorizing tax payers.

  3. @ron

you may want to think about moving to the US too. There are some considering a VAT here too. Given the American appetite for more government goodies and low taxes, and then we borrow money from everywhere, our financial condition is about as sound as…..I won’t say Greece, but how about Liverpool FC?

  4. I am in the UK and yes I do plan on buying myself an iPad, it’ll be the 16GB with wifi & 3G.

The only problem is I’ll have to wait until September!!

  5. Canadian dollar at or close to par with US dollar, and we get charged $50.00 more across the board? Along with the higher sales tax? Give me a break! Only cost me about 20 bucks in gas to go to Buffalo.

  6. Going to Rome in September, going to sell my 64Gb wifi iPad in italy while I’m there, then come home and hopefully buy a back to school upgrade version…

  7. Those Australian prices are pretty much as expected. A quick conversion shows the 16GB Wi-Fi is almost equal to the US price, once you take local sales tax into consideration.

So can we assume they will ship on the 28th?

PS The code for the Australian dollar is AUD not AUS.

  8. @contrarian, “you may want to think about moving to the US too.”

I moved to the USA over 50 years ago, after leaving school at 15, made it big, and retired well off. I’m glad I escaped from England and socialism. ‘The Big O’ (Oaf) is trying to condemn this great country the gutter of the world with the rest of the dictators and communists.

Now ask me what I really think.
