  1. but….did they fix the issue of connecting to the iTunes store through a content filter like…network composer…..we use the store alot where I work and when we went to 9.1 the store quit working. Our IT person (all mac btw) was tearing his hair out…. Oh well, I’ll find out tomorrow…..

  2. iTunes, one of the few Apple apps that is still not 64-bit. I guess that comes from the original code base being from Cassady & Green’s SoundJam MP, which Apple bought to turn into iTunes. It was from a time before Mac OS X (even before Mac OS 9). iTunes 1.0 was for Mac OS 9, no Mac OS X version. All it did was play and organize your MP3s, and encode music CDs (it did have Internet radio also). No AAC yet. No iPods. It supported non-Apple MP3 players! No store. No podcasts. No Windows version.

Over the years, more and more functionality has been tacked onto iTunes. Amazingly, you can still use the current version with the original iPod (as long as your Mac has FireWire). I think iTunes 10 will be a complete rewrite, probably secretly being worked on right now.

  3. Took me a year and a half, but my drought in getting a shout out from MDN for submitting an article before Fred Mertz is finally ended.

Not quite like the Cubbies not winning the series in a couple hundred years, but it’ll do…

I gotta find me a young fireballer in the draft, that Mertz guy has an amazing farm system.

  4. Some might argue that 93 MB is just getting a little too porky.

Perhaps Apple should offer an “iTunes Light” for those people who only want basic music management functionality – no store, no Genius, no video, no conversion utilities, etc.
