And more snappy!!
I love it and its SNAPPY on my MBP.
Best browser for Windows also, as long as your not locked in and forced to access sites requiring Active-x, Sharepoint or full functionality with .asp, .net MS internet monopolizing technologies.
Third-party plugins? Are they officially supported? Can anybody recommend some?
@Connor MacBook,
Sure, there are third party plugins. A number of them are even accessible through Apple’s website. They go into the “Internet Plug-Ins” file in the Library located in your Home Folder. I have several, such as ClickToFlash and one for WebEx. They’re not as big a deal on Safari as they are on Firefox, but they’re there.
Safari AdBlocker & ClickToFlash.
It probably doesn’t really count, but 1Password!!!!!!!
And evernote.
1password counts – and well worth it!!!
Third Party Plug-ins = Flash.
Flash is now sandboxed. Flash crashing brings up a dialog, and no longer takes down the entire Safari app.
Hmm, hope this fixes the problem where some plugin called ‘Sparkle’ keeps crashing Safari. Anyone know what ‘Sparkle’ is? If I don’t need it I’ll just get rid.
clicktoflash and adblocker are GREAT. Makes ad bloated craptastic sites like MDN tolerable.
Really a educative and informative post, the post is good in all regards,I am glad to read this post.

Best plug-in for Safari – Glims – http://www.machangout.com
And to think, this was imminent just a couple days ago…
It crashed my iMac twice last night.
Reboot didn’t help.
Repair permissions and reboot didn’t help.
Resetting power management finally stopped it.
I have no idea why that worked.
Maybe the third reboot was a charm….
The one thing I’d like to see in Safari (which I believe Firefox has) is the ability to save your last session. I usually have like 16 tabs open at any given time. If Safari crashes I have to go back and re-open all of them. It takes a few minutes and kind of sucks. Otherwise Safari is the best!! My only other issue is that Safari seems to be a memory hog which I don’t notice as much in Firefox. It could just be any Flash player stuff that’s running though.
The Big Mac!™
Check under the “History” menu.
@The Big Mac!™
Glims will do that for you
@ TowerTone: Thanks! I didn’t see that there. Firefox seems to ask you when you relaunch it. Safari doesn’t which is why I mentioned it.
@jax44: I shall try that Glims plug-in thanks!
I use Webkit so I’m used to daily updates.
@Sarasota:
So am I. As is anyone else using Safari.
Or the other way around: You are still using Safari.
Webkit is a render engine, not a browser.
