One of the first things I did with my original iPhone was change the carrier name with some hacky app.
You can easily put anything you want in there.
Hahaha… my carrier says “aCed”, I’m pretty sure anyone can make theirs say Verizon if they rele felt the need to. What other kind of news can we fabricate today?!
Oh, and totaly forget the whole photoshopping abilities which are capable of creating incredibly realistic mockups of non-existent products (ie. Apple’s tablet). There is no way someone couldn’t photoshop up an iPhone’s carrier settings to appear as something else…. nup, no way, haha. *yawn*

I thought a jailbroken iPhone can have its Carrier ID hacked. So, this shows nothing.
Someone noticed that the “VERIZON” text is grey, not the same color as the normal AT&T;and the “time”. Interesting to say the least. I wonder why.
Just looked at a colleague’s phone to see how it looked and it doesn’t say “Verizon”, but rather EvDo. Obviously this is a fake by some clown who doesn’t know any better.
Dropping ATT for Verizon is trading the devil you know for the demon you don’t.

If I was Apple, I’d plant a similar “leak” just to soften up ATT position on deal-extension negotiations (or whatever else Apple wanted from them).

I created this in PS to compare the screenshot from the article to a screenshot from my iPhone. The screenshot from the article is on the top, mine is on the bottom.
I drew a 1px straight orange line across the top of both screenshots, sitting on the pixel just above the WIFI logo. You’ll notice that in the screenshot from the article, the top of the “V” touches this line, while the top of the “A” in my screenshot is 1px below the line.
This shows that the font size in the article screenshot is different than from a currently-shipping phone. The more I look at it, I’d also say that the font itself is different too.
Does this “prove” it’s a fake? No, because Apple could have made the typeface change in any new OS they might be testing. Having said that, Occam’s Razor would hold that the simpler explanation, that someone “mocked up” this image, is most likely.

So much wishful thinking. Too bad Verizon is not going to get the iPhone anytime soon. It’s amazing watching how so many desperately want an iPhone on Verizon, yet they ignore all the clues that say it isn’t going to happen.
Steve Jobs is more than happy to watch Verizon stir in their own filth – especially after their childish misinformation campaigns directed at the iPhone (Island of Misfit toys, anyone?). If I’m wrong I’ll eat my words, but up to this moment I’ve been right – Verizon doesn’t have the iPhone now nor will it for at least another 3 or more years.
It’s a Bad Photoshop job. As the name Verison is too bold in the header and all the spacing is off.
