Intel: Apple MacBook Pro Core i5 promo was ‘communications problem’

January Clearance Blowout ends 1/14“Intel late Thursday tried to downplay the Core i5 MacBook Pro e-mail it had sent out to its Retail Edge program partners,” Electronista reports.

The company now says the prize promo, which was sent out fully translated in multiple languages, was just a ‘communications problem’ with Intel’s marketing agency and was allegedly a mistake,” Electronista reports. “A new copy of the e-mail has been sent out that replaces the Apple notebook in the giveaway with an HP Envy 15.”

MacDailyNews Take: Quite the prize downgrade.

Electronista continues, “Despite the denial, most observers have seen the original e-mail as confirmation that Apple is about to revamp its pro notebooks with the new Intel processors, possibly as soon as the rumored January 27th event.”
