“Here’s a neat trick. In a report to clients Wednesday, Susquehanna Financial’s Jeffrey Fidacaro published an estimate of how much Apple is spending to build a device that hasn’t been announced, never mind shipped,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Forbes.
MacDailyNews Take: Now we’ve seen it all.
Elmer-DeWitt continues, “Vaporware issues aside, it’s not that big a stretch, thanks to the teardown experts at iSuppli who pegged the bill of materials for a 16GB iPhone 3GS at $180.”
MacDailyNews Take: No, Phil, it’s a huge stretch. Sheesh.
Elmer-DeWitt continues, “Using that a starting point, Fidacaro threw in the extra cost of a larger screen, bigger battery etc. and came out with a total of $347.23, as detailed in the schedule below the fold.”

Well, my sources tell me that the PA Semi custom chip inside the tablet costs $106.32 to produce.
If you’re curious, my “sources” are a bottle of Relax wine, a 12-pack of Amberbach and delusions of grandeur.
Everything works better on Windows than on a MAC.

Philip Elmer-DeWitt = delusions of adequacy
Jeffrey Fidacaro = just plain delusions
See……. analysts are useless. They can put out any information they want, even on products they know absolutely nothing about.
The 2014 GM Camero will cost $30,000 less if you buy the whole car instead of buying the parts from GM and assembling it yourself.
Trust me.
Ho ho ho, big laughs at my expense. Glad to oblige. But at least you could try to get the affiliation correct. My work is published by Fortune, not Forbes.
This has to be the STOOOOOPIDEST of all the iTablet rumors.
