NY Times: Steve Jobs ‘extremely happy with new tablet’

Christmas PD5FM $10 discount“Like almost all the people covering technology, I have no doubt that Apple will release a tabletlike device in 2010; there are too many signs that point in this direction,” Nick Biltin reports for The New York Times.

“Let’s put all the rumors aside for a moment and look at the facts. There’s the endless chain of patents, as Brad Stone reported in The New York Times in late September on the rehiring of Michael Tchao, who worked on the Apple Newton. I’ve had many discussions with publishers and content creators that sustain my suspicions,” Biltin reports.

“But the icing on the cake comes from a current senior employee inside Apple,” Biltin reports. “When one of my colleagues here asked if the rumors of the Apple tablet were true, and when we could expect such a device, the response from his source was, ‘I can’t really say anything, but, let’s just say Steve is extremely happy with the new tablet.'”

Biltin reports, “Yet another recently departed Apple employee tipped me: ‘You will be very surprised how you interact with the new tablet.'”

  1. Say hello to the “Moses” tablet, with the “Finger Of God” OS.

No one will be able to compete!

    Peace.

  2. Originally there were 4 tablets but Jobs was so incensed when he saw the first two he hurled them to the ground shattering them into thousands of little pieces.

The impact was so violent, a nearby bush caught fire.

  3. Below is something that man will never be confronted with, just the rest of us.

    The one true flaw:

If you believe your goal in life is to be what you are or what you were meant to be. If you do not believe as a human being that you can be perfect in all things I believe you to be foolishly flawed. I also would suggest that “good enough” represents who you have become, not what you should be. At some point you decided to just give up on finishing (whatever) and just stop. Your inability to be perfect or more importantly wanting to be perfect, has made you content in life. It can be proven by your lifes rewards. Look around, do you live where you dreamed of living? Are you sitting in a furnished room, furnished the way you actually want? My guess is you don’t. Somewhere you gave up on perfection and accepted you in it’s place. Your parents did the same and taught you no different. Breaking the mold is hard, I still haven’t but I will. I believe perfection is attainable, not in a book though and not in the clouds. You have to seek it out in this life. Maybe this is/was the actual message the king of kings wanted us to understand? I can not concede that God exists nor can I refute it. What I can say is this. If you are content on you, your work ethic and your beliefs then you will not be one of “the five people you meet in heaven”. For plenty of you reading you will have some drinks this holiday season, maybe some smokes, maybe even some drug use, but at any given time are you ever going to let go of your nagging insecurities of an earlier life and put forth the seventy year effort to become the crowned jewel of creation that you are entirely expected to become?

  4. To understand the desire for the tablet you have to understand that it is not meant to replace a computer (desktop or laptop), any more than an iPhone is. It is really meant to replace the paper in your hand. More like the newspapers and magazines you see in Harry Potter movies. Much more handy for working on documents. Just like a piece of paper would lie on your desk as you read and write on it. People have worked on documents that lie flat on a desk for centuries. This tablet experience will be no different. We’re all mostly used to using a flat keyboard on a laptop. The tablets virtual keyboard will be little different. It will be a content consumption device that allows access to all media in one device and will tuck under your arm.

  5. “You will be very surprised how you interact with the new tablet.”

No doubt you swallow it with a cup of Kool Aid. At least that’s the way all the other rumors appear to go down.

  6. “Steve is extremely happy with the new tablet”, as he hovers in his floating chair, in outer space, without the aid of a space suit or breathing apparatus.

And if wishes were fishes, we’d all cast nets.

  7. ‘I can’t really say anything, but, let’s just say Steve is extremely happy with the new tablet.’

Yeah… In other words, he isn’t supposed to say anything, but although he will acknowledge that fact, he is going to say something anyway.

  8. Notice it’s the New York Times reporting… Hello?! Don’t you remember when Bill Keller, Executive Editor for the New York Times said, “I’m hoping we can get the newsroom more actively involved in the challenge of delivering our best journalism in the form of Times Reader, iPhone apps, WAP, or the impending Apple slate…”

So of course the hype begins and especially with the NYT… They are going downhill fast with that liberal rag paper spewing Ivy League tripe causing them to loose subscriptions and therefore ad revenue causing them to layoff employees. They gotta do something to get them into the black and what better way then to have their content on an Apple item that isn’t iPhone related but might be better suited for the print (newspaper/magazine) world!

  9. The new tablet will recognize gestures as input without your fingers actually touching anything. The internal camera will “see” your gestures by looking between the pixels on the screen.
