Stella Artois has created Le Bar Guide, the world’s first global 3D augmented reality bar guide for iPhone provides on-the-go navigation for discerning bar goers.

It is available to download free from Apple’s iTunes App Store here.

MacDailyNews Take: Mmm, Stella. Um, we gotta go test out this app right now. We’ll be back eventually…

[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Lava_Head_UK” for the heads up.]

  1. NIce but I don’t see the point. You can get Stella anywhere. Now an aug-real app that tells you where the nearest real ale pub is located. That I’d use ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  2. It would be easy to dismiss this as just a novelty…but what it represents is something truly game changing..

the Augmented Reality functionality has implications for your personal relationship with the world.

When Google buys Yelp…your personal handheld device…whether it’s an iphone or a Motorola Droid
will allow you to go almost anywhere and find only the best of the best… from bars to dentists…from
    a hamburger to a mechanic…
location, reputation, prices, services, menus, all popping up automatically filtered to your preference.

It is in many ways, the end of local advertising since the “reputation engine” in Yelp is so much more powerful
than the 2 x 5 ad in the local paper for driving business….

We are entering a world you will barely recognize in the next 3 years.

  3. Over here in dear old blighty Stella goes by the affectionate non-de-plume of “Wife Beater”. I’d rather have an app that pointed me in the direction of s Moosehead, Bud, or a traditional British bitter. Anyone got an app for that?

  4. Stanley Kowalski: Stella! Come on, Stella!
Stella: I’m not going back in there again, not this time, never going back, never.
Stanley Kowalski: Hey, Stella! Hey, STELLLLLAAAAAAA!
