Blockbuster releases app for Apple iPhone and iPod touch

New iPod touch 8GB, 32GB & 64GBBlockbuster today announced the availability of its Blockbuster app on the App Store. The free app was created in response to customer requests for easy access to Blockbuster services on their iPhone and iPod touch.

“Downloading this app is like putting Blockbuster in your pocket,” said Kevin Lewis, senior vice president of digital entertainment at Blockbuster, in the press release. “It’s just one more way we’re working to expand our connection with our customers and their access to the entertainment they want most. We spent a lot of time listening to the kind of features our customers wanted in an app for the iPhone and iPod touch, and we’re excited by the functionality in this first release.”

The app enables customers to:
• Browse Blockbuster’s entertainment catalog — browse Blockbuster’s complete catalog of movies and television shows.
• Check real-time store inventory — access up-to-the-minute inventory data to see if the movie they want to rent is currently in-stock at their local participating Blockbuster store.
• Build and manage an online rental queue — create or manage an online queue of movies they want to rent, adding, deleting or reordering titles directly from their iPhone or iPod touch.
• Locate their nearest Blockbuster store — find the nearest store based on a customer’s current location or from another provided address.

Blockbuster is exploring other functions to enhance the app in the future, including search and inventory check for games, in-store movie reservations, movie downloads and other customer-requested and convenience-based features.

  1. If you really listened to customers, why don’t you add support for digital downloads for Mac users?

Do you think that Windows users are the only ones who like to watch downloadable movies over the internet?

That’s why I just switched to netflix!

  2. When you say Dinosaur, do you say it like the guy in the animation from Jurassic Park? Because if so, that changes the whole meaning of your take….

  3. If anyone really believed in ‘global warming’, they would insist that all videos were delivered online and that the Copenhagen conference would not exist as it enables 34000 ‘delegates’ to travel there by plane so as to create a gigantic cloud of jet-fuel pollution.

Why are humans so stupid? Is there an app for that?

    And yes, fsck blickboster.
