“Toshiba has announced its new 64GB embedded NAND flash memory module will offer the highest available capacity in the industry in the first quarter of 2010,” Sam Oliver reports for AppleInsider.
“Likely to be a customer is Apple, which has doubled the maximum capacity of the iPhone with a new release every summer,” Oliver reports. “Given the current 32GB iPhone 3GS, next year’s iPhone is likely to offer 64GB of capacity.”
Oliver reports, “In addition, the new 64GB iPod touch, introduced in September, uses a pair of 32GB NAND chips to achieve its maximum capacity. Toshiba’s new chips would allow Apple to release a 128GB iPod touch sometime in 2010.”

To be honest, in terms of an iPhone any further increase in capacity wouldn’t be that huge of a selling factor for me. I’d wouldn’t get my entire library on it so would still have to juggle playlists to rotate a balance of material. Sure it may allow me to carry some more video with me, but again not a huge factor, it would be nice to have a range of sizes and possible drop the price of the smaller ones a bit though.
This will make the Touch an even better game platform. More depth in games

What does this mean for the macbook air?
The macbook air currently has an ssd at around 128 gb.
Seems like there’s a lot of stuff going on with ssds in term of size.
However, I keep hearing that ssds are experiencing higher failure rates than hdds.
Does this mean that the air will be getting a 200gb ssd?
