Apple preps Mac OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard

Apple Sale“The first external builds of Mac OS X 10.6.3, the next incremental update to Apple’s Snow Leopard operating system, should arrive this week,” AppleInsider reports.

“It is not yet known what issues Apple hopes to address with the latest update,” AppleInsider reports.

Apple’s Mac OS X 10.6.2 “was in beta for just over a month, before its release to the public on Nov. 9. A timeframe for the potential Mac OS X 10.6.3 release is not yet known,” AppleInsider reports.

  1. I hope they fix the issue with Bluetooth and original Apple wireless keyboard (model A1255) and Magic Mouse and Snow Leopard, where the keyboard never goes to sleep so that battery life goes from months to lasting a week at most.

    It’s on the Apple Forums, affects many people, been like it since release of Magic Mouse; needs fixing, my Apple keyboard is eating batteries.

  6. Ever since 10.5, I’ve noticed gradual performance degradation, especially when you move through the dock and minimizing the windows via genie effect.

    When I upgraded to 10.6, it was so smooth again. I hope they can help optimise the codes to maintain performance throughout future updates for Snow Leopard.

    Why IS this deemed “newsworthy?”

    I can understand if it was an article about 10.6.3 having been seeded (as opposed to “going to be seeded”), with at least SOMEthing about what it fixes…

  9. It’s news because before this article appeared, we did not know that 10.6.3 was slated to appear this soon. That’s good enough for now, and the article was short without unbridled speculation as to what it “might” cover.

  11. Yawn. Let me know when 10.6.8 arrives, so I can upgrade to Snow Leopard. Meanwhile, hearing of all these bugs in SL is passing entertainment while I continue to enjoy the stability of Leopard, while you beta-testers try to convince yourself that the extra snappiness, or trivial, minor changes were worth the upgrade. Actually, I’m so content with Leopard that I might give SL an entire miss unless I get it when purchasing a new Mac.

    I just bought SL yesterday, installed it, and was rudely awoken to the hell that is SL. While the Expose tricks are nice, the damn Ethernet doesn’t work.

    Well, it works sometimes, then it cuts out. You know what’s annoying? Trying to download 500 MB of Software updates with broken-ass Ethernet. *sigh*..

    What a joke. Its been documented online but the only real fix is manually entering the DNS address or some crap~ There’s basically no actual fix from Apple.

    For Ethernet!

    So I tried working with this… ‘situation’ for about a day, found it maddening, and soon got out the Leopard disc for a ‘restore.’ When 10.6.3 comes out next month, I sure hope there’s progress on this, I’ll do a Clean Install of that then.

    But yea, right now. Stay the F away from SL. It’s a nightmare.

    Please do miss it . . . and give the rest of us a break with your faux superiority and holier-then-thou protestations. ALL software has bugs, nimrod, some more critical than others. How about the new BSOD (BLACK Screen of Death) in Winblows? Huh? How’s that make you feel? Superior to that platform TOO?

    NOTE: Apparently, the “new” BSOD has been lurking in the corners of the Winblows OS for YEARS! For the love of all things technological, is anybody in Redmond awake at the switch?

    At any rate, JJJ, you can get back on your high horse now and look down condescendingly on the rest of us. YOU’RE better than we are: more sensitive, more discriminating, more difficult to please. There. Feel better now?

  16. Another in today’s list of “SL killed my computer, and I hate it!”

    Yeah, yeah, yeah. We have over 20 Macs using WiFi and Ethernet in my office, all running 10.6.2, upgraded from 10.6 . . . and no problems whatsoever with any of them.

    Let’s see now. It couldn’t possibly be YOU and YOUR machine that’s at fault here, could it? Naw. The millions of users who have no problems in this area mean nothing to you: only the <1% of supposed power users who have done who knows what to their Macs do.

    Your post smacks of FUD, sir. Nothing more. We know nothing of your credentials or agenda, do we? Truth is, we nothing NOTHING of each other in this or any other web forum. Your post has been duly noted; now I’m going to look for my grain of salt.

    sorry to hear your problem mike, but here in my office we have 29 Macs all running SL and no problems at all with any networking of any kind.

    Guess you just got unlucky. Loser.
