Apple iTunes Store to offer free music, TV shows in Europe during ‘12 Days of Christmas’ promo

Black Friday/Cyber Monday Apple Blowout“iPod owners in Britain have something else to look forward to this holiday season: an iTunes music giveaway that offers account holders a free download for each of the 12 days starting December 26, from a selection of tracks,” Eliot Van Buskirk reports for Wired. “A French retailer indicated that the promotion would happen there as well, and German has also been mentioned as possibly venue for the giveaway.”

Van Buskirk reports, “‘For 12 Days of Christmas, we’ve delved deep into our catalog to pull out some real treats for the holiday season,’ reads a note on the site. ‘Check back here every day for rare singles, exclusive live tracks and free music videos from some of the biggest artists in the world today.’ The site will also offer free ‘classic TV episodes’ for iTunes users to choose from.”

Van Buskirk reports, “”An Apple spokesman told Wired.com on Thursday afternoon that the “12 Days” giveaway will not extend to the United States. (Music is licensed regionally; the giveaway is the work of “iTunes SArL,” a wholly owned Apple subsidiary that runs the iTunes store in Europe.)”

  1. You’d think that Apple wouldn’t want to diminish the positive impact of its generosity by offering it to some customers but not to others. But that’s exactly what they’re doing. American customers will be irked that they’ve been left out of the deal. It’s simple human nature.

  2. @’BJ’:
You don’t pay much attention to your surroundings do you? Nor have you ever been out of the US during the Christmas season. If you had you’d know that in the States the ‘C’ word is avoided like the plague in advertising, replaced by the word ‘holiday’ almost entirely. In the rest of the world companies advertising to people who will be buying their products as Christmas gifts have no qualms about the use of the word. Only the oblivious or obtuse have not noticed.

  3. I see “Merry Christmas” signs everywhere I go and shop in America. Only those wearing FOX-colored glasses – or as Nobrainer called them the ‘obtuse and oblivious’ – see the so-called ‘War on Christmas.’

  4. Hey BlowJob, you’re just showing yourself to be a yet another prating troll.

YOU brought up this irrelevant subject and you are still at it, on a Mac fan site of all places. Your idiotic goading isn’t worth answering.

    Get lost clown.
