As part of its ongoing mobility strategy, RadioShack on Friday announced that it will introduce Apple’s iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in a limited number of U.S. company-owned stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth and New York City metropolitan areas beginning later this month.
RadioShack expects to introduce iPhone in stores across the U.S. in 2010.
Operating from neighborhood and mall locations, RadioShack currently has approximately 4,470 company-operated stores, 1,300 dealer outlets, and nearly 450 wireless phone kiosks throughout the U.S.A.

MacDailyNews Take: Apple’s onslaught continues.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “James W.” for the heads up.]
Well now, Lance Armstrong and the iPhone are at Radio Shack. Maybe they’ll actually get to be cool again, after all these years!
Oh man, I’ve been putting off getting an iPhone for two years, but it’s on now!
radioshack for the win!
Radio Shack , fun as The Love Shack! The B52s were on to something.
Great! While I’m there, I can get the bits and pieces to cobble together my own iPhone accessories.
Shouldn’t that be, “The Shack”?
If they sell iPhone carrying cases, does that make them Caddy Shack?
Radio Shack? That place is still doing business? Oh well, miracles do happen…..
How do you spell UBIQUITOUS?
A. Like that except in lower case.
I’ve always thought of Radio Shack as “The Adapter Store.”
you can also turn in your old iphone for store credit
Finally! Finding places where one could buy new iPhone was real challenge before that.
<b>breeze</i> – How do you spell UBIQUITOUS?
C-O-M-M-O-D-I-T-Y
Hope that helped.
@jubei & confuzed1
that’s exactly what occured to me the moment I saw MDNs headline.
Funky little Shack!
And if the Shack doesn’t license the music by the B52s to enhance their ad campaign then they’ll never be cool nerds.
Amazing! Finally, Radio Shack carries a product that isn’t cheap junk.
and while we’re at it can we all lose the phrase ‘FTW’ please, it’s SO stupid and makes absolutely no sense.
On a funny note, I remember getting my first computer from them: Tandy 1000 TX with 286 running at a blazing 8 Mhertz. I thinky parents droppped 2+ grand on that piece of junk.
Do they still have a battery of the month card?
lol, TowerTone!
In the future you’ll be able to get an iPhone by grabbing it with one of those Skill Crane arcade games at the mall.
Who’d have ever thought Apple would be selling iPhones in a radio shack? Wow, I mean wow. Is the Shack is going to destroy the Apple brand?
Why in the world would Apple allow this to happen? Oh wait! Business is business.
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”cool smirk” style=”border:0;” />
Why not just have iPhone vending machines in place in every mall? Cheaper way to sell.
The nice thing about radio shack is you’ll be able to play with a Pre, for example, side by side with an iphone. Maybe a Droid, too?
But I have to agree with you we’re pretty much at the saturation point. ie, more outlets probably won’t increase sales much.
Now at a strip mall near you…!
