Apple today released iTunes 9.0.2 which adds support for Apple TV software version 3.0, adds an option for a dark background for Grid View, and improves support for accessibility.
iTunes 9 comes with many new features and improvements, including:
• An improved look and feel, including a new Column Browser for easily browsing your artists or albums, movies, TV shows, and more.
• iTunes Store has a brand new look, with improved navigation for quick and easy exploration.
• iTunes LP and iTunes Extras create unique experiences that feature exclusive interviews, videos, photos, and more — available with select album and movie purchases on the iTunes Store.
• Home Sharing helps you manage your family’s iTunes collection between computers in your home. iTunes can automatically transfer new purchases, or you can choose just the items you want.
• Genius Mixes are created for you by iTunes and play songs from your library that go great together.
• iPod and iPhone syncing now allows you to organize your iPhone and iPod touch home screens directly in iTunes. Syncing is now also more flexible, allowing you to sync individual artists, genres, or TV show and Podcast episodes.
• iTunes U items are now organized into their own section in your iTunes library.
• Sync with iPod nano (5th generation), iPod classic (Fall 2009), and iPod touch (Fall 2009).
• iTunes 9 also includes many other improvements, such as HE-AAC encoding and playback, more flexibility with Smart Playlists rules, simpler organization of your media files inside an iTunes Media folder, and more.
iTunes 9.0.2 is available via Software Update and as as a standalone installer for Mac OS 10.4.11 or later, along with Windows Vista 64-bit, Win XP SP2, Vista, and Windows 7.

Here’s hoping this once again breaks Palm Pre sync. Copy RIM for a change, Palm, and write your own sync software.
It does break Palm Pre – Good! f’n leeches!
It bricks the Pre’
wouldn’t that be ‘special’
It must be Snappy Hour at the Genius Bar……
Just updated – snappier!
Stop leeching of Apple, Palm. Must frustrate your users suckered to buy your piece of crap.
I lost about 80 songs/tunes out of 3300 total, when I just updated iTunes. What happened? I got a message asking if I wanted to find them. Trouble is, I sold most of the CDs.
I was able to find then by using ‘Spotlite’.
A real pain in the ar – neck!
Unlike some of the previous iTunes updates where Apple seemed to have done them for the primary purpose of disabling Palm, this time around, it was just a fringe benefit (the primary purpose being support for ATV3.0).
When using Spotlite to find tunes I had to use the correct upper and lower case, or they wouldn’t be found.
Hey this Palm Pre thing is a good thing for the rest of us.
Apple keeps improving iTunes! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
Now if we can just get Palm Pre to leach off of Aperture.
LOL @ The Other Steve!!!!!
I nearly spit out my drink. Other Steve, you so nailed it for us po’ photographers!
@ron
I hope you never try to search for Spolight by typing “spotlite.”
Back to your point: really? I thought all Spotlight searching was not case sensitive. In fact, I’ve never seen it be case sensitive in my typical searches. Perhaps you spelled something wrong like you did here.
What is HE-AAC? Is it like the He-man of AACs?
@ pluki7 – Wikipedia is your friend: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HE-AAC
STILL not upgrading to iTunes 9. STILL eyeing Zune HD. Unless I know for sure Apple will stop breaking stuff in these “upgrades” I’m not updating.
Strange that the white-grid-view-background-aaaargh whiners have not yet crowed about the awesomeness of the black grid view background option in iTunes 9.0.2.
I just tested it. Didn’t remember the graphite background with the clumsy black boxes around the albums looked so bad.
I’m sticking with white.
I don’t believe that! Yesterday I finally decided to update from iTunes 9.0 to 9.0.1, now 9.0.2 is out today >_<

It didn’t. this bug is new.
@ron
Dude just drang your iTunes music folder, assuming you keep all your music in that folder, and drop it on the iTunes music home screen. It will rebuild your library and add the songs back in.
If you’re so obsessed with the UI, use Zune HD. It’s perty… :B
