  1. @MacMan then how do you explain this little GRR Google Reasearch Result? An old friend of mine just bought a new HP Quad laptop after his AlienWare was recalled to the Mothership. Lol 

  2. I love how when there’s serious hardware in a non-Apple laptop its always called a “gaming” machine but when the same hardware is in an Apple product its just a “Macbook or Macbook Pro”…..

  3. @unclemacosx – They can put the quad core in anything, but it has to be useable. These laptops are basically useless unless you have them plugged in and they weigh a freakin ton. Why not just buy a desktop? Apple isn’t going to come out with a laptop that can’t be unplugged for more than 2 hours.

Lenovo W700DS – battery life is 2.1 hours with just over a hour DVD playback

The Hypersonic weighs almost 12 lbs!!!!!

Alienware M17x battery life is 1 hour 30 min and weighs 11 lbs

  4. @Mick James:

Interesting point. I have a pet peeve involving Apple, where the Minis, and iMacs are always referred to as the “consumer” models, and anything with “Pro” in the name is always presumes to appeal to professionals only, which not only stupid but wrong anyway. What’s wrong with a fast machine at home?

Do I have to be a pro race car driver to own a Porsche?

  5. My bad- yes, the i5/i7 are designed for laptops. BUT, I can’t imagine that they are as powerful as the desktop models.

Still, it would be nice to have that power (as long as it doesn’t suck the battery dry too quickly…)

  6. Mr. Reeee – Yeah, there’s definitely a niche group that would buy one of these laptops. But, Apple doesn’t usually pander to the gaming crowd. I just don’t see them coming out with a 13 pound laptop that will only run for 2 hours just to run a quad core. Apple doesn’t have a market for it. There are very few people that are going to drop 3+ grand for a laptop.

  7. @Multi-toucher

Yes, we do. But it makes much less sense. “Core i5/i7 MacBook Pro models weaving machine”? Unless we’re talking about the as-yet-un-rumored but therefore even more likely imminent Apple aquisition of a large textile mill in the Southeast.
