So much for all that extra disk space freed up by SL.
Kudos to Apple and HP for getting it right. The tight integration of 10.6 with included HP drivers has given my HP Photosmart 7280 a new life. And a note that might get missed: “The Scanning interface is now built into Snow Leopard and supported with the Apple Image Capture application. HP Scan Pro software (from Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5) is not supported in Snow Leopard. The HP icon for HP Device Manager still in the dock after upgrade is not functional and should be removed.”
It’s about time they support image capture for the scanner… The stupid scanning software from hp crashes every 5 minutes
MadMac,
STFU and delete the ones you don’t need.
Even if you don’t, 6+GB minus 381.5MB proves your statement to be not just idiotic, but factually incorrect.
In short: GFY, asshole.
@ No Coffee Yet,
Have some frigging coffee dood!
@nocoffee
Get a grip! He was just telling it like it is. Apple took the drivers out and now people need them back. There’s no reason to be a little bitch about it.
In case anyone wondered, GFY clearly does not stand for “Government Fiscal Year” in this context…” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”tongue wink” style=”border:0;” />
@ No Coffee Yet,
Jeez, even I’m not that cranky in the morning!
HP driver and software on Mac and Windows is notoriously bloated and a system hog. They sell a lot of units and have a lot of shelf space at big box stores, but I don’t think they are leaders in either printing or scanning. Now those 10GB of space that I gained with Snow Leopard will be taken back by HP drivers.
@ No Coffee Yet
Right on!!!
— morning caffeine in hand
Anyone know if the all-in-one OfficeJet G85 printer/scanner/fax/copier is supported in this bundle?
Ok, it looks like it is not. Arrrggghhh!!!!
Sir Gill Bates Jeez, even I’m not that cranky in the morning!
I am.
Go fuck yourself!

So now we need Canon to step up to the plate, as my MX860 all-in-one is a paperweight with Snow Leopard. and I bought it at the same time as SL
Wow – people – it’s Friday – lighten up.
I’m thrilled – our HP PSC 1315 is now supported – I can stop shopping for a new all-in-one.
@ twilightmoon,
I’m not that cranky, but I am extremely violent.
Luckily for some, the internet allows people to be anonymous as well as uncouth.
@Sir Gill Bates
So you’re saying you’re very calm and violent? Like a hit man, or a serial killer?
Creepy.
@ twilightmoon,
Yes, just like the guy in the movie ‘Hitman’, only not as nice.
(And also without the shaved head and barcode tattoo.)
I just wish SL would also magically make my HP Photosmart Premium quit guzzling ink like it’s free beer.
With several ink cartidges (the so-called normal size… heh, yeah right…) I barely printed 5 pages before I’m getting warnings about low ink levels. Almost every time I turn the thing on another cartridge is reportedly getting near the bottom… it’s almost unbelievable. Now, with the super expensive XL cartidges, maybe I can actually get a little work done…
Come on, SL – fix HP’s problem like a good kitty.
“HP Scan Pro software (from Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5) is not supported in Snow Leopard”
Thank heavens. That awful HP software is more frustrating and complicated than anything on my entire Mac. I’m really hoping I can delete the HP software, upgrade to Snow Leopard and actually use the darn thing!
OK. I need some help and can’t get through to HP. I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. I updated the software to 10.6.1 and downloaded the HP drivers from the Apple site but I still get the same error message when trying to scan. What have I done wrong?
OK. Disregard my post. I trashed all of the old HP software. Uninstalled and reinstalled the printer in system preferences. Found some info on the HP site and now it is working hunky dory.
