Dvorak: ‘I see no reason why Apple (AAPL) stock can’t get to $200 or higher’

“Apple Inc. seems to be the only tech stock with the kind of support that can take it back to precrisis prices with little effort. If Steve Jobs can stay alive and finish the currently rumored notepad computer, I see no reason why the stock can’t get to $200 or higher,” John C. Dvorak writes for MarketWatch.

A rumored Apple tablet device “likely will feature some astonishing characteristics, rather than the cookie-cut tablets that have all failed in the marketplace,” Dvorak writes.

MacDailyNews Take: It’s the software, stupid. That’s why tablets have all failed so far. Apple’s “tablet” won’t be handicapped with Microsoft’s putrid Windows.

Dvorak continues, “Even if Apple cannot do the perfect pad computer, the company should still do well over the next six to 12 months, though — mainly because it is staying aggressive. That’s the real key.”

  1. No way! I don’t think Dvorak is lucid by saying “the company should still do well over the next six to 12 months, though — mainly because it is staying aggressive. That’s the real key.”

Stupid thought 1) As if Apple is just planning/targeting growth for the next 6 to 12 months only.

Stupid thought 2) Staying aggressive is the real key and not innovation and vision.

Short sighted Dvorak please review your own writings before publishing.

Chances are he wrote the same thing when the iPod arrived in 2001. Because the company stays aggressive…. Aaah you idiot.

  2. I am unimpressed by MDN and those readers who have such a fetish about Dvorak.

Dvorak often says unusually creative and insightful things, as with the article in question today. His creative approach to the industry sometimes leads him into lala land. The idea is you enjoy what he writes for what it is, then think about it yourself. Depending on the column you come away with a new insight, a new perspective, or a laugh.

The irony meter hits record highs when Dvorak gets this kind of attention from rabid Apple fans in part because he revealed he has baited them on occasion. Who is the smart guy in this picture?

I am a huge Apple fan. You can be one and still maintain some balance.
