Al Jazeera English Live app released for Apple iPhone and iPod touch, includes live video feed

Al Jazeera has released “Al Jazeera English,” an app for Apple iPhone and iPod touch which allows users to access Al Jazeera English on your mobile, anywhere in the world. Al Jazeera English is Doha’s international news television channel.

The app offers a live feed of the Al Jazeera English channel straight to your iPhone or iPod touch and integrated web portal. When connected via 3G, you can watch the channel in standard quality. This offers good video and audio quality at a low bit rate to minimize bandwidth requirements, according to Al Jazeera.

When the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, you will automatically have access to a higher quality version of the channel which makes full use of the high speed connectivity offered by most Wi-Fi networks. If you like, you can change the default settings to view the standard quality version of the channel at all times.

You can watch as often and as long as you like anywhere in the world (subject to network availability). The live channel will be available for at least 6 months from the date you purchase the application.

The Al Jazeera mobile news site is also included in this app providing one-click access to all the latest news and sports.
