Crowds line up for Apple’s iPhone 3GS debut in Japan

Apple Online Store “Apple Inc. released its new iPhone 3GS in Japan on Friday,” The Asahi Shimbun reports. “More than 200 people lined up at Softbank Mobile Corp.’s Omotesando store in Tokyo to snap up the gadget that offers speedier functions.”

“As the nation’s sole provider for the iPhone, Softbank launched the iPhone 3GS a week after Apple introduced it June 19 in the United States and Europe, where sales topped 1 million units in the first three days

“At a 3GS introduction and news conference, Softbank Mobile President Masayoshi Son demonstrated how to shoot a live video on an iPhone 3GS of actress Aya Ueto, and then played it back on the phone,” The Asahi Shimbun reports.
