Apple’s QuickTime X the missing link for Adobe Flash on iPhone? [UPDATED]

Toast 10“Now this is interesting. Apparently, the new version of Apple’s video playing software, QuickTime X, will support the playback of .flv files in Snow Leopard. Yes, Adobe Flash files,” MG Siegler reports for TechCrunch.

“The blog, Cateto blog dug up this seemingly small detail that was overlooked during all the other Snow Leopard WWDC announcements. But it’s anything but a small detail. Because if it’s true, that means that this same functionality could very well make it to the iPhone and iPod touch,” Siegler reports.

UPDATE: 8:06am EDT: This morning, the Cateto blog states, “Correction: QuickTime Player X DOES NOT play flv natively… I had Perian installed, enabling the .flv playback in QuickTime.” Full article here.
