Free ‘Land of the Lost’ game debuts for Apple iPhone, iPod touch

NBC Universal has launched “Land of the Lost: Crystal Adventure,” a free game for Apple iPhone and iPod touch that’s based on the upcoming comedy-adventure Land of the Lost, starring Will Ferrell — and coming to a theater near you on June 5.

In the game, Dr. Rick Marshall (Will Ferrell) is trapped inside a Sleestak temple — and he’s gonna be “permanently stewed” without your help.

The game features:

• Guide Marshall through 25 puzzle-driven levels by pushing blocks, building bridges over pits and navigating around obstacles — all while avoiding the Sleestaks

• Collect the small crystals during the journey — they’ll help you drive your name further up the scoreboard

• Reach the crystal table and you’ll take Marshall to the next level of the Sleestak temple

Users can also watch clips of the movie — which, we assume, is the main purpose of this promotional game (the movie opens this June).

In the upcoming feature film, Land of the Lost, “Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into a space-time vortex and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world — a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost.”
